June 30 hearing in KC to focus on streamlining city bureaucracy
Committee members want to hear suggestions for improving the licensing and permitting process. The committee wants to make it easier to start or expand a business in the city. Business owners interested in speaking at the meeting are urged to call Lisa

Sturgeon, aide to Councilman Scott Taylor, at 816-513-6523.
Any suggestions?

Maybe one suggestion would be appointing one person to take you through the process.  That way if there is a problem all you need is to contact that one person instead of a variety of people depending on what is going wrong.  Or that one person contacts you if a problem comes up.

I am all about doing as much as possible online, we should be able to pay taxes online, pay fines online, pay for registration online which I think most of it you can do already.

Regarding processes to open business  you should be able to submit  as much documentation.

I remember Mayor Barnes had her assistant kind of serve that function. Pretty much every response she had to a constituent with a problem was "talk to Regina." Every permitting agency should have a Regina.

Have something like an HR rep or customer service rep to handle each business as they go through the process and later as a point of contact for questions or follow inspections.  At the end of each year or application process they get rated by the businesses they handle...if they don't get passing grades they get replaced...
