Huge new development proposed in Raymore

Post by trailerkid »

991-acre housing and golf course development proposed at the corner of County Line Road and Madison St in Raymore. "Creekmoor" would have 1,521 housing units just north of Raymore.

It seems that the area south of Lee's Summit could become Missouri's Johnson County West with plenty of lakeside sites and a ton of open land.

A $309 million residential and golf course community may be on its way to Raymore.

Cooper Land Development, based in Rogers, Ark., is proposing to build a giant community called Creekmoor. It is expected to encompass 991 acres on the corner of County Line Road and North Madison Street, an 18-hole championship golf course, a recreational lake and 1,521 residential units.

On Monday, the Raymore City Council will consider a tax increment financing proposal for the development at its 6:30 p.m. work session at the Raymore Municipal Complex, 100 Municipal Circle. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Planning and Zoning Commission will consider the developer's application for rezoning and preliminary development plan in the same location.

“It will certainly be a large project, probably the largest project in the city,â€

And exactly why do they need a TIF?

Raymore City Council turns down TIF request for Creekmoor, realizes it probably isn't smart to offer such steep tax incentives to an entirely residential project.

KC Star story.

Raymore is on the benefitting end of the sprawl at this point. That any development would require tif money makes me exceedingly angry.

Creekmoor, a $309 million residential and golf course development, is on its way to Raymore.

The Raymore City Council on Monday gave final approval to rezoning the land from agriculture to a planned unit development. It also gave a go-ahead to the preliminary development plan.

Cooper Land Development, based in Rogers, Ark., wants to build the giant residential and recreational community. It will encompass 991 acres at County Line Road and North Madison Street. It will include an 18-hole golf course, a 116-acre recreational lake, a recreational center, an elementary school and 1,521 residential units.

Groundbreaking has not been scheduled.Creekmoor could become the biggest development in Raymore since Wal-Mart relocated to the city from Belton several years ago.
