This development kinda blurs the downtown/urban core boundaries.....
The Star reported on Dec. 4, that Union Hill developers Chris Seferyn and Vince Rook (Velvet Dog, Empire Room, Cafe Trocadero, Spy Agency and Salon, DiPardo Wine and Spirits) are under contract to buy a building at 3036 Gillham Road. They plan to convert the 6,000 sq. foot building into a fashion mall with as many as six stores. They say "We live in the neighborhood and want to revitalize this little area in Midtown."

This area, as well as the area around Southwest Blvd. at Wyandotte (Crossroads), seem to be emerging as the hippest parts of the city. A boutique-style fashion mall here will really enhance its uniqueness and urbanity.

The 39th Street corridor is set to boom. With two trendy night spots there, we have the nightlife. With the construction of the salon, etc..(which fits in architecturally very wekk), we are beginning to see some daily retai,. The mini mall would be great. I would like to see that old gas station torn down and the vacant lots filled in with infill building plus off street (hidden parking) and maybe even a garage built.

CITY, please do something about Penn park. The curbs and roads are terrible as are the plantings. That park needs a major rehab, also 39th between Browdway and SW Trafficway and between Broadway and Main could use a bit of sprucing up as well.

Add some housing, and the area will boom, simply boom.
