one thing i learned (!) from the open house was that this project will now capture the first 1.67 inches of stormwater runoff on site (above and underground). the plants (trees and grasses) will be more native than previously proposed.

the owner of a parcel on the north side of 20th between main and baltimore refuses to give up a massive curb cut, leaving it in place -- reconstructed nicely! -- instead of stormwater management and plantings. due to budget constraints, the little triangle across from manny's is no longer in scope (it was planned to have a major stormwater feature and close that little leg of wyandotte to make more people space). the cost cutting had also removed the grand-to-mcgee section, and a federal grant to revive it was not successful.

all that said, the project looks great. if you haven't walked down the main-to-grand section yet please do. amazing finish work. plantings go in this fall, so next spring/summer it should look great. two years of maintenance and watering will be handled by the contractor.

no. i believe you have to apply, but there's no process for revoking them and city has indicated no interest in doing so.

It'd be swell if the city were to do the Grand to McGee portion as a paint-only road diet to allow for at least partial continuity in the corridor.

Close it with bollards, paint it a fun color/design and put a couple benches out there. Bam, back in budget.

It's such a heavily used road though!
