Ever done a ride-along with a KCMO cop?

Post by GRID »

I haven't done it since college, but it was a blast. I have ridden along several times, (thought about being a cop long ago). I have riden in Central, East and Metro patrols and have seen everything. It's a blast, if anyone ever wants to pull an all nighter (I recomend the 7-7 shift) and is looking for something very different for both entertainment and eduacational purposes, than try one of these ride-alongs. One of these days I might even do it again. It's amazing what goes on during a typical late night shift of an inner-city urban cop.

I've always wanted to do that. What do you have to do to get to do it?

Twice for KCK PD...

Sugar Creek PD as a cadet.
The Pendergast Poltergeist Project!

I finally divorced beer and proposed to whiskey, but I occassionally cheat with fine wine.

I wouldn't call it a "ride along." but yes, I've been in the back of the car.
KCSKYSCRAPERS changed my life. I was on the edge until I visited this site. Now I find myself longing to dive off a 60 story building onto a frozen fountain paying tribute to the St. Louis Arch.

I had a "ride along" in the back seat of a State Trooper's car.

Our golf bags just fit quite nicely in the trunk alongside of all the riot and radio gear

We drove the speed limit down the highway and were passed by everyone. My State Trooper was quite comical as he flashed his badge at the window and pointed at them to slow down.

He told us that is a trick he doesn't often use-he usually stops them, but he was off duty that day. He also told us about the guy who flipped him off when he flashed his badge. That guy had quite a string of charges on his list after he got pulled over

I would call ahead and set up a time, but they are pretty casual about it. They will run your ID though ;).
