Yeah -- there's still a memorial there, which they rededicated for the 50th anniversary.

That was really interesting. It's odd that. over 50 years later, there still isn't anything on that spot - other than the memorial.
Looking at the video (and from the relatively low damage assessment given), it doesn't sound like there was ever anything to the east or west of the service station.

found this video independent of this thread. never knew about this fire
I was amazed how close they had everyone setup to the fire, even if not needed to be that close. probably stopped doing that after this fire
