New Riverboat Casino?
New Riverboat Casino?
Anyone know about this? There's a sign at 3rd and Cherry, across from the Caddyshack, about a coming soon Big Horse Riverboat Casino. It shows a rendering and says a bunch of stuff, but I didn't have time to read it all.

Hmm...I'm heading to Riverdogs in about 10, I'll try to slow down and read the sign.
Re: New Riverboat Casino?
I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that when Missiourians voted to do away with the loss limits last year, there was a stipulation attached that capped the number of riverboat casinos to what had already been approved.
Re: New Riverboat Casino?
That cap might not cover tribal casinos or April Fools casinos.

Re: New Riverboat Casino?
I'm not so sure. Sounds fishy, but...
Some research shows:
Because of regulations of the Missouri Gaming Commission, all gambling casinos must float in water, be located near the Mississippi or Missouri rivers, and be located within 1,000 feet of those bodies of water. This would be termed a ‘boat in a moat’ configuration.
The rendering on the sign shows a boat in a moat. I ran a remedial Google Earth measurement, and it appears to be just within the 1000' range.
Could it kick start riverfront development? This is where they should have put the "Pile of Debris", in the first place.

Re: New Riverboat Casino?
Pumpkin Stalker, did you get a photo of the sign?
Any contact info?
The Port Authority says they can't confirm or deny any knowledge of the development, or their connection to the project.
WTF?

Re: New Riverboat Casino?
I know I saw something about the Army Corps of Engineers and their logo on the sign. While I don't really know WTF the Port Authority actually does, wouldn't they somehow be involved if they were diverting water from the river to a moat?

Unfortunately I couldn't find a place to park! But no, really, traffic was too heavy for me to pull over and jump out. I went by twice!loftguy wrote: Pumpkin Stalker, did you get a photo of the sign?

Re: New Riverboat Casino?
They actually "leaked" a presser out a couple of days ago, and have a Web site ( http://wampumbighorsecasino.com ), but... all that's on the Web site is the same picture on the billboard, with "Core of Engineers" misspelled. Plus, I couldn't find any "Tonka Tribe" doing a quick Google search. My money's on joke, scam, or a plan that's not very well thought out. Argosy / Harrah's / Ameristar have nothing to worry about. Isle... maybe.

Note also that the domain name was registered 2 days before April Fool's Day by a Columbus Park resident.
(I debated removing the phone number and address but he registered it publically, not privately, so anyone can see it anyway.)

Re: New Riverboat Casino?
why does this thread exist? I keep opening it to see if there is any information.
Is this an April Fool's joke? If so, somebody put this in the recycle bin, where it belongs. This whole exchange is stupid. I don't think I've pulled an April Fool's joke since I was 12.
