Imagine: you own 5 places in the U.S. What, Where? Pics Help...
I donno why, but I felt inspired to start a new post. I was bored on he empty subway train home today (yeah I was like the only person who had to work in DC today) and was day dreaming about where it would be cool to live and in what kinds of places. Here is my list:
1- Kansas City, Roanoke or Hyde Park, Stone House- I have always loved my neighborhood but envied my neighbor's stone houses. Solid, beautiful, and full of great woodwork, fireplaces, etc:
2- New York City, SOHO or NOHO, Loft- I would love to live in this area of NYC. Yeah, it's 'sold out' but where on Manhattan isn't. Great architecture and restaurants near by. Can't decide between a classic cast iron or the 40 Bond street Building:
3- Washington DC, Dupont Circle, Brownstone- Nothing beats this area of DC, and these are some of the most beautiful townhouses on the east coast.
4- LA, West Hollywood or Venice Beach, Bungalow- No, LA is not the type of city that I love, but there is something about it that facinates me more and more. These two areas are very walkable and have some great architecture. I love Bungalows and something about LA and its romantic past in the 1920s and 30s makes it seems like the true home of bungalows. (Is it?)
West LA Hedge/Fence
5- Seattle, Queen Anne, Tutor or Craftsman Mansion- Amazing houses, great views of Seattle
Where Would you live and in what kind of dwelling?

(1) house in san francisco, not sure where exactly. somewhere not too uppity (relatively speaking) with some sort of small backyard or outdoor space. preferably a historically significant property that has been restored and somewhat DWELL-ified inside.
(2) house in the northern california forest, near (or on) the ocean. mendocino county, perhaps.
(3) new england-style house on the coast of maine.
(4) modern house in a hip inland neighborhood of LA - silver lake, los feliz, eagle rock, etc. preferably a private midcentury-modern (or so influenced) home in a hilly, treed area with a good view from the backyard.
(5) townhouse with backyard in williamsburg or greenpoint, brooklyn, NY.
(6) i would just keep the house i bought in hyde park in KC, but fix it up to be amazing with the money i would presumably have if i could afford dream homes all over the US.

My picks aren't terribly creative.
1. Lincoln Park, Chicago brownstone. Close to a major park, great restaurants. I love Chicago - it is New York with a midwest feel.
2. Grant Park, Portland Oregon. I don't know the neighborhoods in Portland that well, but the city is awesome. Grant Park seems nice enough.
3. Brookside, Kansas City. Best neighborhood in town, hands down, for me.
4. Upper East Side, NYC - in the middle of it all
5. DuPont Circle, DC

Make sure to remember your AK-47 assault rifle, your flak jacket, a few Bowie knives and possibly a grenade or two. As a young male in Detoit, you must always carry protection.

Yea, I recently spent an entire weekend walking around every square inch of downtown Detroit with $10,000 of camera gear exposed by myself.staubio wrote: Ahh, how quaint. A guy from the Kansas suburbs hating on Detroit.
Felt safer than when I tried to cross Blue Valley Parkway on foot near 119th a couple of years ago.

1. KC (primary residence) - A large home in Briarcliff on the bluff with a view of the river and downtown, or the 'spire penthouse' of the P&L building if it goes condo. KC will always be home.
2. Manhattan, New York - A penthouse overlooking Midtown and Central Park. Couldn't ask for more.
3. Sanibel Island, Florida - On the beach. Most relaxing place on Earth.
4. Moab, Utah - A ranch home overlooking the town and Colorado River valley. Best outdoor recreation anywhere.
5. Monterrey/Carmel area, California - On the coastal cliff's edge (on solid bedrock), with a path to the beach below.
If I was kicked out of KC, then I'd add:
6. Kona, Hawaii - In the hills overlooking the town and sea. Not just for the coffee.
