Why Kansas City is no good (and ways to fix it)

Post by fire4725 »

Some people told me to put this in a thread. So I did

1. All of you seem proud of your sprawl("Well I'm glad of all the growth in Northland, Blah, Blah,Blah" =D> )

2. You have a nice NASCAR track, but make fun of the people that use it. Most of you would be amazed if you ever went to a race. It really is a cool sight to see.

3. The Chiefs(Go Rams!)

4. The Royals(Go White Sox!)

And of course The Truman sports complex, which is just more sprawl in a land of already too much sprawl. "So whats around Kauffman, is there a place to eat?" "No, but theres parking!"

The only good thing about Kansas City is the Baby Back Ribs

Oh yeah, its St. Jo, Not JOCO

Why Kansas City is no good (and ways to fix it)

In some twisted manner, this dudes right. We spend tons of effort getting somehting we deperately seem to want (ie Union Station, 18th & Vine), check it out a few times, avoid it like the plague and then complain that we don't have anything.

We tend to cry over what we want....get it...then cry about how each of us (like it freaking matter) would have designed, built or sold it differently.

We are cannibals who eat the offspring we desperately want.

You know, there's actually a split second of pleasure when your sack's getting yanked in two directions......then you see your nuts on the floor and ITS OVER!

my problem is people that don't check out things like 18th & vine AT ALL.

This dude makes zero points to that though...he's just flaming.

No wonder his name is fire....where you from fire?

Is someone who has no interest in a project really worse than the community advocate who "wants" a project and then sparsly patronizes the place?

I go to KC alot, I work near the airport. I live in St. Joseph

Oh yeah, who said I was from JOCO? Don't insult me like that. When I think about it, I dislike JOCO more than I do KC....

I think you'll find very few on here "proud" of the sprawl...we concentrate on the urban core growth.

You would think so, but you would be wrong.

Check out the Northland or Kansas Suburbs forums

You'd be quite suprised

It's good that KCMO is growing it's tax base by filling out the city limits but overall sprawl is considered bad in here....believe me, I read everything.

Now, are you going to be a productive member of this forum or just here to stir stuff up?

developments in the inner core don't matter,

Of course you are going to have urban developments downtown

Downtown is urban!(So they say)

if something like 18th and Vine are produced, what does it matter?

the people living and working there will just have to use their cars

That is about as good as a office park in Overland Park

18th & Vine has 2 of the best attractions in the city....it's very productive....it can get much better.

People don't have to use their cars....many use the bus system we have, no matter how poor it is right now.

Developments in the core do matter....it's been proven a strong urban core and downtown area help the entire metro improve and become more marketable. Even clear up to St. Joe.

If KC wants more development in the urban core, and a light rail system, they need a trolley system. That is another reason KC is no good, no good transit! St. Jo is no better but look at the pop. difference

I'd be disgruntled and mad at the world too if I lived in St. Joe.

Trolleys?
Yeah, trolleys

Memphis Tennessee--Main St. trolley. Airport to downtown light rail, 2004

Tampa, Florida--Ybor City trolley. Light rail downtown to USF possibly 2007

New Orleans, Louisiana--Canal St. Trolley. New Orleans to Airport light rail, 2007

You see, trolleys lead to light rail. When people see that they like trolleys, they will want light rail.

Who the hell is Clay Chastain?

how can someone who derides KC sprawl, knock downtown development, not know who Clay Chastian is, and is an admitted suburban dweller here and in other communites speak intellegently about KC. If you don't like Kansas City, then don't come here.
Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.
