My parents are coming through town tomorrow morning and I am looking for a place in the Downtown/Crossroads/Crown Center area to have breakfast, probably around 9-10am.  Any suggestions of a good place that is open?

Harvey House Diner at Union Station.

Or you can check out if Succotash or Cascone's (River Market) are open Sunday. Barring that, there is also the City Diner at 3rd and Grand in the River Market.

Truth be told though I like IHOP and Village Inn more than any of these places anyway.

Blue Bird has  a nice Sunday brunch.  Benton's in crown center also has a nice brunch.

I recommend You Say Tomato in Longfellow or Happy Gillis Cafe & Hangout in Columbus Park.  A bit further south, the new Bella on W. 39th St. is now doing Sunday brunch.

That place has been Poco's on the Boulevard for some time now.

Thank you for the suggestions everyone.  I will definitely be keeping the list of places to try out in the future.

I guess the last time I was there was two years ago. So is poco's breakfast any good? Wonder what happened to all the cool old stainless steel stuff they had in there?

Last I was there a few months ago, Poco's breakfast was exactly the same as Waid's was, just the menu also had a lot of Mexican fare added in addition. They ripped out all the stainless steel knick-knacks though. I know I'm stayin' away from the Menudo...

Cascone's in the RM also is good for breakfast....all the time, not only on sundays.  I'd recommend the "big sammy".....then a nap.

Has anyone tried Tom Fooleries for brunch?  I have seen it advertised, but never been to it.  I think it is an all-you-can-eat deal.  I have been wanting to check it out sometime.

It's pretty good. Lots of options. I think it's a little over-hyped - more quantity than quality. Definitely worth trying every once in a while.

Grand Street has a great brunch if you're looking for something a little nicer.

Reverse is good too. I tried 180 this weekend and it was good as well.

I was watching the Food Channel the other day and they were showing this breakfast place that had 60 types of omelets, and deep fried their french toast. I was thinking what a cool place it seemed to be and that I wish we had a place like that in KC. Then they panned out and it was Mama's on 39th! I have never been, but I'll be sure to make it next weekend.
