I need to direct a group of between 30 and 50 people from the City Market to Liberty Memorial on foot. My plan is to send them down Walnut to where it merges with Main near Hereford House, then down Main the rest of the way. This is the simplest, most direct route. But I forgot about one thing -- the P&L District being in the way.
It will be around 11am on a weekday. It should be noted that some will likely be carrying signs explaining the cause they are walking for, but they aren't going to be protesting or anything like that... just walking straight on through on their way to the memorial.
Is Cordish going to throw a fit and send their security out if a large, organized group of people walk through the district as long as I keep them moving? Or are the sidewalks still considered public property and as such usable by anyone for any peaceful, legal purpose?

i doubt you'll have a problem if you don't stop and block the sidewalk, especially during the work day. will be interesting to see what happens!

But you might have to walk single file in order to navigate by the giant planter boxes that take up so much sidewalk space

why don't you go up grand? or main? or broadway? walnut is dull and boring and constructing.scooterj wrote: I need to direct a group of between 30 and 50 people from the City Market to Liberty Memorial on foot. No worries. Why would it be an issue?

Are you raising money for the "Save the Local Bars and Restaurants Society"? Fred Phelps?
Its only two blocks - I would think that unless you dawdled or made one hell of a commotion you would be through before they would even be able to react.

Grand goes too far out of the way. I know it's only 1 extra block at the north end and 2 extra blocks at the south end, but they're on a REALLY tight schedule so I have to use the shortest route possible.Beermo wrote: why don't you go up grand? or main? or broadway? walnut is dull and boring and constructing.
Main not only also goes through the P&L, it's even more torn up with construction zones. They're about to tear up the sidewalks in the 800 block, and the 1200 block has barriers on one side and a single-"lane"-wide tunnel you have to walk through on the other side. Then you have to jump to the opposite side again at the 1300 block. Plus there's the whole Main/Delaware/7th/Ramps intersection that's no fun to cross.
And Broadway is the furthers out of the way of the bunch. Plus, in the past, I've walked with people who freaked out and refused to cross over 670 on Broadway.
Walnut's actually a pretty nice walk, and only 1 block has any significant construction. They aren't doing a tour of the city anyway, just trying to get from point A to point B as fast as possible.

Haha... no... it's a group of Native Americans on their way to Washington DC. Environmental issues such as their land being used for radioactive waste dumps, etc.LenexatoKCMO wrote: Are you raising money for the "Save the Local Bars and Restaurants Society"? Fred Phelps?

Yeah I figure "it's only 2 blocks", but I remember Pumpkinstalker getting intercepted a while back because he had his bike on the sidewalk. And bikes move a lot faster.

As long as you're not the Baggy Pants Brigade, it shouldn't be a problem.
