tunnel under Oak St.?

Post by peterbillionaire »

I took this picture last June. It shows the construction site on Oak St between 55th St and 54th. It looks as though there was a tunnel under Oak St. I am calling it a tunnel -- as opposed to a sewer -- because it had a flat floor, as if for walking. I went back a week later, prepared to go inside, and it was covered up.

Strange, there seems to be a sewer to the right of it, but that is more like a tunnel, agreed.  Not sure about that one.

Charlie Binnagio used to live down in that neck of the woods. GIven the tunnel(s) running out of the old Lococo house at 346 S. Jackson to the "garage" on Smart, ya never know. Course, 346 has a hidden floor and cash box slots in the wall.

The upper portion of the 'tunnel' is covered with a metal plate.  It might be much taller.

18th street is right.  The mob did live in the Northland, as in north of the river.  No dumb____ery involved, Kansan or otherwise.

Um.  That's what I said, not him. I worked with enough Italians in the local record industry to know of those rumors/legends.
Dumbfuckery indeed.

You are a dumb__ incarnate. Anyone that thinks there are "tunnels" in the northland is a goof.
Just cause you work with a few dages (Tigers Records = the "record industry"? LOL!) that talk loose about the old northeast and a tunnel or 2 doesn't mean they have any out north. You put your foot in your mouth every time you open it.

By the time the Italians/Sicilians starting moving to the northland the mob was in it's last days. And during that time the only mob left was in Northeast and the North End. To you KS newcomers the "North End" is now known as Columbus Park, just as the River Quay became the "River Market". If there were any "tunnels" built in the 80's when the last of the mob was wrapped up it would have been in Northeast or Columbus Park where the last of the mob resided.

Don't believe every urban legend you hear. If you were from the city and Northeast you would know, but I see in another thread you are from Turner KS, AKA the dumb___ capitol of the known universe.

Reread Sportster's advice. Keep talking. You look dumber everytime you post. And I never worked at Tigers, though I know some who did.
That is not my source. I'll leave it at that.

Look sillyboy from Turner KS - Sportster admits to living in the neighborhood for 20 years.
He's not necessarily the definitive resource for all things Northeast.

One guy in Northeast had a tunnel from his north-south street to his garage on the east-west street.

A tunnel in the city is one thing, a tunnel in the Northland suburbs would go to "where"?
The nearest house that's 100+ feet away? It isn't feasible nor practical. Anyone with money that built in the Northland burbs would probably have a compound-like mcmansion.
Prove there is a "mob" tunnel in the Northland or stfu.

Now unless you want to discuss Turner KS where you're from, can we get back to Oak Street.

18th, I've heard the multiple rumours also, and I've known many people who have said there are definitely tunnels in the Italian part of the Northland.

I'm not saying there are tunnels, just saying that he is not the only one that is saying there are tunnels there, there are many people aware if it (or rather, the rumour)

The mob had / has a presence up north, but the only tunnels to the northland are the water tunnels (there are two).
