bahua...I'm with you.

I say put a new baseball stadium in washington park...connect it to Union Station and have awesome views of the CBD...this would still be downtown....in the crossroads district.

Development at TSC could be considered infill...I just don't want the type of development that is going on at the speedway....huge boxes with even larger amounts of parking.

You guys are dreamin' if you think that Kauffman Stadium will be demolished and a new stadium will be built downtown. So... We might as well embrace the awesome stadium we have, renovate it and surround it with new urbanism and more retail/entertainment. Taco Bell, Denny's, and a couple of shitty hotels (Holiday & Drury) aren't cuttin' it. Keep Adam's Mark though.

Remember Kemper and the mistake we made there.

Kemper isn't a world-class facility by any stretch. They built it by a bunch of slaughterhouses and warehouses. Everyone hates Kemper, nobody hates Kauffman. That's why a new arena is more likely to happen than a new baseball stadium, that wouldn't ever fly with Kansas Citians.

I love Kauffman.....I just don't see spending almost $200M for renovations....PNC park in Pittsburgh was built for like $230M brand new and that included land I believe.

That concrete will start getting old and worn out one day and we will wonder why we spent so much to put new bathrooms in......just my opinion.

I'm fine with renovations over nothing though.

Where did the $177M price tag come from. I hope they fill in the seats around the backfield and raise the fountains higher and make the stadium more enclosed. Who wants to stare at a freeway during innings anyway? :-s

I don't hate Kemper. The design is outdated (e.g., not enough suites) but not inherently flawed. Granted, the location isn't the greatest, but it's fine for watching hockey. At Blades games, I sat in just about every section, and the sight lines were always great. Never went to a basketball or soccer game there, so I'll leave those critiques to others.

Kemper sucks....seats are bad, new seats added are worse, concessions and bathrooms were outdated when the building was built....throw on bad location and it's a loser in every way.

You do have a point about the restrooms. The first time I went in there and saw a trough, I thought I was at some county fair.

It'd be nice to stare across the freeway and see mid-rise apartments instead of a Christian church, a crappy vocational school, a $hitty Drury hotel/motel and a Denny's.

or be at the receiving end of some sicko's idea of a trap shoot.

bulletproof vests should be handed out at the gates these days.

Don't diss the trough! The sideways shuffle in the men's rooms at Wrigley Field was always a fun funny part of the experience.

I did hear, though, that the white support beam structure on the outside of Kemper was added later, to ensure that the roof wouldn't cave in. Not so good.
