Chicago Tribune storyHe said it would be "totally speculative" to list possible locations but added the options could include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Kansas City.

KC possible site for MillerCoors headquarters
Miller and Coors are looking sites for a neutral site for the combined company. Several reports have mentioned Chicago and Dallas potential cities, but today Pete Coors hinted that KC might also be on that list.

I would hope the KC EDC and MO/KS govts are completely on top of this by now, ready to reel them in. But while HQs are nice, I wonder if it really means many jobs, which matters more.

Yea, but this would be huge. These guys throw around some serious cash in marketing and what not and right now KC needs major corporate HQs (especially those heavily involved with the community) almost as bad as "jobs".ignatius wrote: I would hope the KC EDC and MO/KS govts are completely on top of this by now, ready to reel them in. Just making the news like Boeing did when they moved to Chicago has to be worth something. You can't buy that kind of pub...well you can I guess .

They have already stated that they will maintain big offices in both Golden and Milwaukee. It could end up being like the Boeing relocation to Chicago. Only a few execs moved, and 99% of the company is still in Washington State.ignatius wrote: I would hope the KC EDC and MO/KS govts are completely on top of this by now, ready to reel them in. Free money please!
Re: KC possible site for MillerCoors headquarters
The neutral site story sounds a bit odd. Maybe they plan to use several cities for leverage but will end up in Denver or Milwaukee in the end. The KC EDC needs to get moving on it ASAP anyway as these opportunities rarely come by.
And come on KC Star, you missed this one.

Here is an article from The Dallas Morning News regarding the story.
This would be a great plus for the metro to gain another headquarters, however it seems all a bit vague as of now. It will be interesting to watch.

lenexa..that is true. ks doesn't seem to have liquor friendly laws though. of course I am sure those morals would quickly change.

Yeah - but how friendly do the laws need to be? - sounds like they are just looking for office space, not a giant brewery.KCPowercat wrote: lenexa..that is true. ks doesn't seem to have liquor friendly laws though. of course I am sure those morals would quickly change.

just look at the laws mo keeps in place like passengers can have drinks in a car, etc.
I would hope they look mo first..not some sprawling office park.

I would agree - the Core would be preferable. But if those assholes under the arch were indeed going to be a problem, suburbs are better than nothing. Too bad KU bought the old sprint campus - that would have been a nice site, reasonably near the core to try and lure an out of town corporation to - even if they had to tear down and start over.KCPowercat wrote: I would hope they look mo first..not some sprawling office park.

"This is one of Milwaukee's biggest advantages, said Pat O'Brien, executive director of the Milwaukee 7, the newly formed economic development group for southeastern Wisconsin. Miller's headquarters is relatively close to Milwaukee's vibrant downtown, the lakefront and livable neighborhoods, O'Brien said."
I think they should keep it in Milwaukee.

Re: KC possible site for MillerCoors headquarters
Back when I was 18 and doing the college visit tour I went up to visit Marquette in Milwaukee - their campus is surrounded by three major breweries - Miller, Pabst, and Schlitz I believe. The entire area reaked of yeast and fermentation on a massive scale - not in a good way. The windchill that weekend was -67, I would say we have a leg up in terms of climate.

When I did the Boulevard tour, they said they are the #24 brewery in the nation, something like that. And they do as much beer in a year, as Budweiser does in ONE DAY across the state.
that's amazing.
that's amazing.
