KCI Shuttle rechristened SuperShuttle, rates drop

Post by DaveKCMO »

New ownership brings new look, lower rates to KCI Shuttle
Starting Dec. 24, a one-way airport ride to or from Johnson County on the renamed SuperShuttle will be cut to $28 from the current minimum $49 for riders willing to share a vehicle. Up to two additional passengers to or from the same address will continue to pay $7 each.
One-way rides between the airport and Missouri-side hotels, the Country Club Plaza, Bartle Hall and other key visitor destinations generally inside the I-435 loop will remain $17 to $19, said Bill George Jr., chief executive of the Kansas City Transportation Group.

George said he planned to expand the reduced rates for shared vehicles to suburban Missouri communities in 2008 — starting in the Northland, where one-way rates are expected to drop well below $17.
SuperShuttle also used proprietary dispatching technology based on the Sprint Nextel network, he said. The handheld systems provide all-digital dispatching, GPS, turn-by-turn driving instructions and wireless credit card capabilities.

SuperShuttle kiosks are also being deployed in all three KCI terminals to expedite dispatching for arriving customers and groups.
