Westport Starbucks to Close

Post by kccrackednut »

The folks at the Westport Starbucks report that HQ in Seattle is pulling the plug on this store in April.  When it opened years ago, everyone thought Broadway Cafe's days were numbered.  Who's laughing now?

i wonder what happened.  Good for Broadway Cafe, hopefully some unique and interesting concept replaces Starbucks.

wow that's crazy...starbucks is so efficient that they can squeeze profits out of pretty weak stores (and reportedly tolerate underperforming stores just to keep locations around, like advertising) so that location must just be terrible.  the location on Main seems to be big during the morning rush but i've never seen many people there otherwise.

It's in the wrong location; it should move next door.  :P

I have never heard of a Starbucks closing its doors until today.  The stores in Westport and the Plaza apparently compete with each other too much so they gave Westport Road the axe.

this is great news. french connection united kingdom should go in there and it would be a perfect location for that kind of store. It would attract people from all over the region.

I wish a few Wal-Marts would close up while we're at it.

They should replace it with a Starbucks, and maybe even put a Starbucks inside.

Doesn't surprise me as Westport is very anti-Starbucks. When it first opened someone threw a chair through the window.  The few people I would see in there were in khakis and golf shirts or Ann Taylor'd out - not exactly Westport residents.

Good news for Westport Coffeehouse and Broadway Cafe.

The place is closing because its in a crap location.  MOST Starbucks customers are in a hurry...drive.stop.get.go.  Parking for such a process was miserable.  The truth is that the avg KC Starbucks customer is only interested in BELIEVING they have had an eclectic experience without having to stand/sit next to a dog walker, comic book lover or dirty art student.

Want a real coffe shop, visit the original Starbucks or SBC in Seattle...all others are the ALWAYS SAVE yellow bag of the copycat coffee world.

Regardless....we're talking about flavored water (which I love).

The Roasterie in Brookside?  Gag.  Worst coffee ever.....tied with that crap your admin asst is always whipping up in the break room.  After 3hrs of sitting on the burner.  At the dregs.

I really hate to say this because I always try to support local places, but I have to agree.  I have had a few lattes here and each one has tasted burnt and not good at all.

Also, I've had the same experience at Broadway.

I always buy bagged Roasterie coffee for my home and office pot, but I'm not a big fan of their foo-foo coffee drinks

Did I just use the phrase "foo-foo?"
