This isn't about that-- this is about politics. You can't get the KC area reps to vote to fund that if they're not getting funding yet for multiple stadium projects either. Mayor Q even said something about this last year, that now it's KC's turn to finally get state funding like StL got for theirs back in 2006. It's all push & pull, give & take. They'll prob cut a deal with KC area saying they'll fund theirs if we fund theirs too.

No shot they get their second round (after 2006) of state funding package for a stadium whilst KC can't even get it's first one still.
You can thank the mayor for the state treating us like their red headed step child
KC has received short shrift from Missouri for a long time and over the tenures of many mayors. St Louis has the advantage (at least St Louis County) of being the locus of the metro's wealth where several large corporations are headquartered. In KC, that wealth is more concentrated in Johnson County KS. It has nothing to do with the sitting mayor of KC that has to balance the needs of a broad swath of constituencies and competition between disparate areas of the city. And it doesn't help that overall, the Missouri portion of the St Louis metro is both larger and wealthier than the Missouri portion of the KC metro (city and burbs included).

Yeah, that and just shear numbers. StL has twice the MO side population that KC has and most people that are elected are also from the StL region.

KC typically comes in third, not only behind StL but also behind rural Missouri which is also represented more in Jeff City than KC is. Same reason why KC tends to also get the shaft (absolute bare minimum) from MoDot.

It's another reason I hate KS side growth and think it's more important to see places like Liberty, Blue Springs and Lee's Summit grow than KCK, Olathe and Lenexa. Much lesser of two evils. KC needs more pull (and revenue tax base) on the MO side at both the local level (to fund regional projects like the zoo etc) and at the state level.

Lieutenant Governor, and St. Louis native, Mike Kehoe spoke at Downtown luncheon last week. He has been integral in many KC projects and spoke/speaks very highly about KC leaders including Lucas and Platt. He praised KC for what we are accomplishing, and noted that is not the case in St Louis, and that he will continue to be a strong advocate for KC. Also the incoming Missouri house leader is from KC metro district. First time in over 100 years...

Ashcroft is going to win easily. Kehoe had some barbs for Lucas this morning.

This has been a long-term problem long before Lucas was elected mayor. It's been a problem before Lucas was born.

And any KC mayor playing nice with Jeff City doesn't get KC anything additional, they just run over KC and STL more. It's super idiotic and frustrating

What is up with the Cards asking for 600 million? 600 million for relatively new stadium? I mean KC's new stadium will only cost 30% more!

All in a market that consistently draws 35k a night? Meaning they have no reason to go crazy on renovations.

They are dong this NOW? When KC is in the middle of having to deal with two 50 year old stadiums at the same time? I mean StL has built Bush 3 and the dome in much more recent years since KC has done anything or asking for a large amount of state money.

Are they trying to sabotage KC?

The Cardinals owner is pushing hard for sports gambling to be legalized, if that happens, it probably benefits all the pro teams.

Busch 2 stadium was only 5 years sooner to open than Kauffman.

All pro owners/leagues are pushing hard. Not sure what that has to do with Grid's post about why they are asking for renovations so quickly and so substantial.

The Cardinals are not asking for any money at this time. The only thing they've said is that at some point, there will been to be some capital invested into the stadium to extend its life. They've also said it is way too early for anyone to be saying they're asking for public money.

Well I personally wouldn't sue her but I do think some people should, including Matt Abbott. However, you just give her a bigger platform at that point. She's been emboldened by the same 25 people who gas her up on every post she makes.

Shouldn't the Coyotes leaving be a cautionary tale for the Royals? The Coyotes had 2 serviceable arenas to use and Tempe turned down an arena deal tax, they must have found a sweatheart deal in SLC and said see ya later.
