How long is your commute?

Post by kard »

I'm curious.  How long is your commute?

I have a reverse commute from near Bartle Hall to College and Roe in OP.  It's about 19 miles by car or about 16 by bike.

On a good day (about 1/2 the time) it takes me about 22 minutes to get to work and about 30 to get home by car.  On a bad day (quarter of the time) it takes 40 minutes to get to work and over an hour to get home by car.  By bike it's a consistent 1 hour each way.

I've looked in to The Jo but it would take over an hour and a half each way and not let me work an 8 hour day.

All things considered, it could be worse.

10 minute bicycle ride from my apartment to the board of trade, 15 minutes coming home because it's uphill somewhat.

And by car, it's only like 4 or 5 minutes if that.

It takes me five minutes to get from my bed to my office. And I have conference calls in my jammies. God bless telecommuting.

About four minutes from apartment door to chair at work.  Half of that is in elevators.

I usually have to pick up dog poop on my way there.

My commute has gone from 30 to 40 minutes in the last 15 years. Thanks to apprx 8 new traffic lights on the route.

I drive from near 160th and Kenneth (State Line) to Westport and Broadway. I've actually always enjoyed the ride as a chance to listen to the radio and chill out a little before I get home and turn into daddy. The State Line / Ward Parkway through town route is pretty stress free.
the only thing for sure is change.

It takes 8 to 12 minutes whether I walk or drive, depending on weather and traffic.    (The slowness of the walk gets cancelled out by the ramps, stairs, and skywalks from the parking garage, making them about equal.)

However at the peak of rush hour it often takes me twice as long to drive as to walk.

1 mile.  15 minutes on foot, 7 or so on the bus and about 4 or so on a bike.

For the record, I was going further when I was "metro commuter" :-)

Until my current job, my commute was 35 miles, and about a half an hour if traffic wasn't too bad. I never tried walking or biking, and bus service was not available to Leavenworth.

Needless to say, I'm happier with my current situation.
