Gotcha, it's not like my little business gets into any of that. But still, I always hear people talking about issues that "someone" with a full time gig at their place of employment has to fix. Usually it is software related problems? I just figured that was an IT person. Still it seems there are plenty of new careers that have popped up that have to do with computer repair.bahua wrote: Well, IT doesn't involve reseating PCI cards and clearing paper jams. That's usually referred to as helpdesk, and nowadays is usually staffed(if at all) by hourly folks. Since it's pretty simple, and can be done by just about anyone, it doesn't really command a very attractive salary. IT generally involves supporting big applications or servers, often in an enterprise environment. People doing things like programming, implementation, integration, system administration, and wide scale deployment usually fall under the IT pall.
We always purchase the Apple Care 3 year plan for all of our computers and if we have issues that require hardware repairs or replacement, we call up our trusted mac guy down in the River Market and he comes over and takes care of us. I can pretty much fix the software issues we have.
And I think we should all pitch in and get Joe a graduation gift! Kindergarten? Way to go Joe!!
