I do food reviews for my campus newspaper and I need ideas. I like to reviews places that are relatively inexpensive, I have to pay for this myself y'know. I need restaurants that are within 5 miles (roughly) of UMKC. Here are the places I've already done:

D'Bronx
Chubbys
Thai Place
Taj Palace
Red Dragon
Town Topic
Mi Cocina

That's all I can think of at the moment. I'd like some ideas on where to go tonight as well as many other nights; so whatever you guys (and gals) can come up with would be very appreciated!

Cheap? Delicious? Original? Local?

New Peking (on Broadway, across from the Apple Market in Midtown) - best Chinese in town, imo
Frik & Frak(sp?) (on W 39th, across from Starbucks)
Grinders (!!) (417 E 18th, between Oak and Locust)
Cafe Al Dente (River Market, at 5th and Delaware)
Tarantino's (Admiral & McGee)

errrr....Jazz?  No thanks.  I guess if you like fake Louisiana food.  Although nearby is Blue Koi, which is good and fairly inexpensive.  Browne's Irish Market on ,I think, 33rd near SW Trafficway is an interesting lunch spot.

the original jazz is pretty good creole, it is very flavorful. like stuff i find in old algiers riding the 9th ward ferry in nawlins? no. but still some good stuff.

the other locations are not as good. but the original kicks butt.
