I noticed a new sushi shop going in to the old Pieroguys space over lunch at the City Market yesterday, just FYI.

I think it was called "Sushi by Me!" or something along those lines. It had a nice, bright aesthetic with a vaguely anime/street art octopus logo and the menu (through the window) looked reasonably priced and pretty decent.

Should be nice fit in a great spot in the market.

I'm really looking forward to this place. Hopefully the sushi is decent. If so, I plan to visit quite often. KC needs more cheap sushi, IMO.

New coffee shop, Quay Coffee, moving into old K-City space (that didn't take long). Hopefully the coffee is much better and the owner knows how to run a shop.

Looking forward to it. Opens in June. http://quaycoffee.org/quay_coffee/HOME.html

EDIT: Just realized that on the website one logo says Quay Coffee, the other says River Quay Church. @#$!@#. Well, hopefully it still has good coffee.

Also, FWIW, Opera House has some new signage on the 5th Street side and ALL of the tacky glass chalk has been washed off.

I've eaten at Sushi by Me. While it wasn't "THE BEST SUSHI EVER", it was pretty tasty and quick. What's more, the staff is very friendly. I approve.

I was by Quay Coffee yesterday and they had the door open while they were working. It is looking really nice--much more coffeehouse-esque. Lots of wood, etc. Very Stumptown vibe. I'm looking forward to having them in the neighborhood.

I got the story today. The fact is, this new development has a manager from RM Antique Mall as part of the team. But, it is a different ownership.

Seems like it could be a pretty compatible operation though.

The 600 Central folks have an open house until 9:00 tonight. I'm heading there shortly, to check it out.

Anyone know if this project is happening? I seem to recall that it was approved:

There have been people working on it off and on for a few months, and I see Icon trucks coming and going. So I'd say, yes, but slowly.

I had never seen that rendering. That would certainly make that sidewalk feel more "ped-friendly" while walking past.

Definitely. I remembered the project but wasn't aware of the rendering until I stumbled across it while reading about the Argyle project.

Looks awesome. I can't remember, is this supposed to be a retail/restaurant sort of deal, or is this a thing where a law firm is taking over a space in the RM as they are prone to do?
