And not just any sports... professional sports. So stop dwelling on the Big 12 tournament, and start focusing on bringing some REAL sports to town... starting with NHL, NBA, downtown ball park, etc. Stop competing with Omaha... and start targeting St Louis, Denver, etc.

Spivak wrote me too. I asked him what comment he was talking about, but he never wrote back. I hope it was the one where I talked about how this ballot measure will stick a knife in Kansas City's side.

Yea, I think it was a mass email, because he didn't specifically address me or the comment he supposedly read of mine. Just fishin' around for a quote I guess.

Write to the well-funded opposition group and...oh, wait.shinatoo wrote: Where can you get a "Vote NO" sign
Go to Hobby Lobby, get a piece of poster board, a marker, and some tape. Write "VOTE NO" on it, then tape it to your window. Yeah, that's it.

Unfortunately, the "No" camp doesn't have millions of dollars behind it.

I'd love to put up a sign, but have no yard.
What about fliers? Maybe we can put together something anyone can print out on regular paper and then get it out all over town--windows, bulletin boards, street poles, car windshields, etc. Anyone interested?

Well when you have heavy hitters from towns like San Antonio and LA comming in and backing subversive websites with big money what to you expect?mean wrote: Funny how they still seem to winning, innit?
Seriously, It doesn't speak well for the quality of the deal that with 2 mil in campaining and essentially zero organized or funded opposition to it they are still struggling to get the support they need.

I wonder what gas prices will be like in 2015
I wonder if KC will have a repopulated and booming eastside with historical structures intact and rebuilt as it was and not suburbia, and racial and economic lines erased...
I wonder if KC will have a fortified transit infrastructure able to keep the local economy afloat amongst gas prices that I dare not speculate on
I wonder what a rolling roof will truly do for us in 2015
I wonder

Re: PROs and CONs of Question 1 and Question 2
how do you figure they are winning? because you read this forum, and other message boards? i have pointed this out elsewhere....................the likely voters in these elections, are not twenty somethings that hang out in online message boards.mean wrote: Funny how they still seem to winning, innit?
and, all polls are pointing, right now, at 50-50. so, who is winning??

Economic incentives is costing the City's general fund around $25M. In other words, the tax revenue for these properties is not adequate to handle the costs incurred by the City.lock&load wrote: Because those vacant downtown properties were generating a lot of tax revenue before the abated redevelopment?Â
From 2007 Budget Proposal Revenue From Super TIF and TIF projects $22M, cost to City $47M.

See information above. You are so very wrong. The City is losing money with these projects.lock&load wrote: This is twice now you've disparaged tax abatements for downtown condos. What exactly is being lost here? There was nothing generating tax revenue to start with. They are not losing revenue, just not adding it.Â

And who knows, maybe 40 years from now they may find out the "New Urbanism" "isn't always the best thing in the big picture." Wouldn't that be something!!!!!!!!!!!!!Burton wrote: Chef, there were alot of city governments, chambers of commerce, and ordinary Joe's that were for Urban Renewal projects in the 1960's too.
