Re: Church of the Resurrection Downtown Campus
I hate the contractors for this project. I hate their automated “sidewalk closed” signs that bark orders at me when I’m completely in my legal right to walk on those sidewalks. I hate how none of their employees can parallel park worth shit so all the good 10 hour parking spaces are unnecessarily given to their F 150s taking up the space of two parking spots. I can’t wait until this stupid project is done.

I think that's unfairly harsh to Lenexa. This would never fly in City Center.grovester wrote:It does scream LENEXA!
But I gotta say this is probably the ugliest thing being built in all of downtown.

Weird church building. Looks like a commercial office or lab building that you would find in an industrial park. I've seen churches adopt this type of building for use but never seen anything like this built for purpose as a church. No sanctuary? Is their office or is it their actual gathering place?

The sanctuary is on the right in that photo.

I'll reserve judgment until it's complete.

There is a phase two isn't there? Maybe they're following what has become a common practice of building the office/family life building first and then building a sanctuary once membership and money allow.

Yes. It would be built on the rest of that block.missingkc wrote:There is a phase two isn't there?

Oh, I thought the rest of that block (to the South) was under control/ownership of the people renovating the old KC star headquarters. Maybe there is room behind this church on McGee for a phase 2?DaveKCMO wrote:Yes. It would be built on the rest of that block.missingkc wrote:There is a phase two isn't there?

Ha. Initial rendering in post 2 of this thread vs. the recent photo. Yikes! Cooler modern college campus-like building with a cross on it vs. 1990s Ultra-Suburbo Police HQ.

Just went back and looked, wtf. The initial rendering was pretty meh but at least could have been rehabbed into something neat when religion dies.bobbyhawks wrote:Ha. Re: Church of the Resurrection Downtown Campus
Agreed I would definitely prefer the original even with the creepy cross. I have noticed the chripsters (I.e. Christian hipsters) in KC become much less pronounced since Trump was elected. Also seen quite a few people renounce. As for me I just hope we go the way of Scotland and turn the churches into pubs once they aren't needed anymore
Re: Church of the Resurrection Downtown Campus
Does messenger coffee have some kind of religious aspect to it? I went there for the first time last week and I just got this overwhelming feeling that everyone there was a chripster.
