Not totally related to this thread, but...

Michael and Bryan Voltaggio, winner and runner up of Top Chef, respectively, were in town yesterday promoting something for Willams Sonoma, evidently.  Michael tweeted a couple shout outs to KC BBQ joints, including some great pictures of the spread they ordered at Danny Edwards, and also posted a shout out to Tony Bourdain due to his Okie Joe's trip and the "13 Places to Eat Before You Die" article.  He gave specific mention to the burnt ends and ribs at Danny Edwards.  Also of note, he was very PC to some kcraggers sensibilities as he mentioned that he dined on the Kansas and Missouri side of KC.  Bryan also posted a pic of some Bouevard Pilsner and a nice one of the gas pump with Okie Joe's in the background.  Worth checking out if you enjoy KC BBQ pride and pretty solid BBQ press for free. @MVoltaggio @bryanvoltaggio

while it gets short-shrift among the beer cognoscenti, i think boulevard pilsner is excellent and a much-needed entry in the boulevard stable.  it is the ultimate bbq beer - i had a pilsner at OK Joe's recently and it's the perfect companion to our native cuisine - cold, crisp, light (but not too light), etc.

for those of us who refuse to acknowledge the existence of twitter, could you post the pics and their messages?

Unfortunately, there are like 10 different tweets, and I am not able to view twitter currently other than on my phone which would be annoying.  I'll see if I can put some up tonight.

I was a twitter hater for a long time myself, but now I have found it is the best source for instant news there is.  When you follow restaurants and local personalities, it is also the second best way to find out about what is going on in KC.

Here are some pictures from the Voltaggio bros brief assault on KC.  I was too lazy to copy the pictures somewhere else so that they were more easily embedded:

I really, really like Danny Edwards.  Since they are just down SW Blvd from us we get there often. Their beef is thick sliced and very juicy.  Their chicken salad sandwich is freaking awesome, we make a special trip when it's on the lunch menu.  Actually the past month they have been swamped at lunch and we have passed for a less crowded venue, good for them, bad for us.

Anthony Bourdain's Facebook page is asking "If Anthony Bourdain were to visit Kansas City, where should he go?"

Right now, the most votes has gone to "On a plane back to New York"  :x

Gates is second, followed by Arthur Bryant's, Oklahoma Joe's, and Boulevard Brewery. Also a nice meth joke among the selections.

So who knows, maybe he's planning a visit.

I like No Reservations fine, but Bourdain is getting obnoxious in his curmudgeonliness. What used to be kind of endearing is getting a little pompous.

The show is getting pretty repetitious. There are only so many ways you can describe how much you are enjoying food and stress how much better home cooked, and local cuisines rule. And how good pig tastes.

He should do a late night food truck tour along Independence Ave. And then a shit-ton of BBQ.
If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.

Yeah, it's only minimally about the food for me. It's more about watching the producers make Bourdain do things he hates, but that's not even really all that fun anymore.

Evidently, Bourdain is in town now through Friday, when he is doing a speaking engagement at the Midland. Oddly enough, he has been eating BBQ, drinking whiskey, and hanging with the Black Keys who are not scheduled for a show.

I hate to be a sketch-ball, but if the Black Keys are playing some secret show this week instead of just hanging with Tony, I must know. Any ideas? Also, it would be cool to hear about where Bourdain is headed. I've read that Michael Smith and some other folks may be involved with part of the trip.
