I wish they would just leave it as a big dirt hole instead of erecting that atrocious edifice planned there.

Hopefully it will be masked by a crap load of electronic billboards.  :D

im sure they will have some kind of electronic billboards and neon signage. It will look fine... it will be lit up like the rest of the district.

I wonder what they are planning on doing with the public art project in front of the NABC to draw in attention. I went down to Orlando with for a work thing a few months ago and they put us on universal studios. They had a place called City Walk, and on that property they had the NBA City... it had a lot of stuff outside of it to bring it alive.

No I'm not the guy in the last pic

What I'm thinking is something simple, a few life size statues of college greats like Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan.  That would be unique and it would draw in business.

Well, it is the coaches HOF, not the players, so I'll bet they have statues, not of Chamberlain, Bird, Johnson and Jordan, but Phog Allen, John Wooden, Adolph Rupp, Dean Smith and Coach K.

Isn't it the College Basketball Hall of Fame? I thought just the organization behind it was the NABC.

There has been some increased action seen on this site. Maybe they will start building this while the Sprint Center starts.

Huge surprise that Hearne Christopher writes a negative article about a downtown topic....at least he's consistant.  Hope Lawrence is treating him well.

That column was ridiculous. The College Football HOF is in a city the size of Overland Park, in a run down part of town. There is no comparison to the College Football HOF and what they're doing with the College Basketball HOF and the synergy created by Sprint Center and the P&L District, not to mention KC is much, much larger than South Bend, Indiana.

I don't have a problem with calling into question the viability of a HoF in KC. But you lose credibility when you say that South Bend has a failing HoF trying to spell doom for KC. There are  a lot of people like Hearne Christpher in KC...constantly trying to compare our region to Omaha, South Bend or wherever...very small town types who think everything here is doomed to fail.

I think it is just a staging area for the arena right now.

So with ESPN working with the design firms does anyone think we might be getting an ESPN Zone?

I gotta say that it would be nice to get the name ESPNZone to help legitimize DTKC in the eyes of some but there really is nothing all that special about the ESPNZones and their food sucks.
