Apricot Lane and Complete Nutrition are coming to Zona Rosa.
I believe the A&F has closed, but haven't been there to verify. I am also excited for I.O. Metro, their furniture looks pretty cool.

I think ZR has done pretty well in such a crappy economy.

spend the afternoon at ZR yesterday and noticed some new tenants not previously discussed. here's the full press release.

- studio movie grill, first-run all-digital movies with reserved seating (opening this month)
- fat fish blue, a "new orleans style" (read: cartoonish interpretation) restaurant
- improv comedy club moved to a dedicated space to make room for studio movie grill
- stone canyon pizza (of parkville fame)

staying competitive...

As do I, but I'd much rather go to the quaint and charming original in Parkville and then walk down the shops to Parkville Coffeehouse and grab a chai.

Seems like they might be canabalizing their own market.  How many Platte County locations does one restaurant need?  Have to think a decent portion of the folks patronizing the parkville location are from points further north - say towards Zona Rosa.  If they wanted to stay north or the river maybe they should have branched further out - say around Liberty.

Zona Rosa draws from a much wider area than Parkville - including Leavenworth County, KCK, St. Joseph, etc.  It's a whole different audience than the locals and antique buyers in Parkville.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about the new ZR location - what happens to business at the parkville location when all of the clientelle north of parkville suddenly starts going there instead of the original?  This expansion strategy leaves the original location completely dependent on local parkville traffic.

This is very true, but I just don't care to put myself into the northland shopping zoo mess called ZR and would much rather have a nice drive to Parkville and enjoy a less chaotic environment.

^Right.  The Parkville location still has access to all the southlanders and Jocos that like to go to Parkville but have little need for Zona Rosa.

Is anyone building a hotel in the region now?

I don't think ZR planned for a hotel, but if it did it would need even more TIF now.

I went to Studio Movie Grill Friday night. Food was great. Service was great.
Even when I left the movie, an employee held open the door for us. He said, 'how was the movie sir?' I didn't expect that. Real nice.
With ticket prices cheaper than AMC, and no food or drink minimums, I plan to go here often.
