Wrong, wrong and SOOOOO wrong.  I've witnessed with my own eyes, 3 occasions where I saw people being treated like crap by P&L thugs despite not acting like doosh-bags.

Again I say:  when law & order types like me are even noticing it, doesn't that suggest there's a potential issue?
I think you're still bitter about the crowds/lines. I've been there plenty of times and haven't witnessed one incident. Usually there late and for long periods of time on weekends. No problems.  Should I knock on wood?

A buddy of mine was booted out of there back in March. He was in the courtyard just drinking and talking, and the came up to him and escorted him out. He was drunk, but he wasn't acting out of control by any means...just kinda wobbly on his feet at worst.

Again I reply:  you are grossly exagerating for attention.

Yes.  A few on here - like you - have seen people thrown out (some unjustifiably).  Most, however, believe that these instances are the exception to the rule.  How many thousands of people come through the P&L in a given night, weekend?  How many bars/clubs are there?  And, how many bouncers are at each establishment?

The point is, the actual instances of bouncer "bullying" are so very few and far between that they are almost nonexistent.

You, however, are blowing it way out of proportion.  You try to draw this picture of pervasive police brutality with guys getting thrown to the ground, cuffed, and pepper-sprayed for doing nothing more than tipping poorly.

Have people been thrown out?  Yeah, people have witnessed it.  Is it happening at a reckless rate and with no provocation?  No.  You're just exagerating, IMO.

Frankly, given the number of reported crimes or violent instances at P&L, I tend to say that P&L security is doing an exemplary job.  Especially considering the diversity of the crowds and the shear volume on a nightly basis.

I've gone to P&L every single weekend and have never witnessed anyone being harrassed by the bouncers. My friend got into a fist fight and they escorted him out...deservingly, of course. He didn't really start it, but still received a ticket for peace disturbance (along with the other guy) and was allowed to go home...understandable. They said he was banned from P&L for a year, but he was allowed back 2 weeks later. Many of these bouncers have worked in other bars/clubs around KC...they are doing their job. I can understand how the P&L doesn't want bad attention or publicity such as fights and other drunken disturbances in their first full year.

Has anyone seen the new vertical "Power & Light" sign at 14th & Grand (across the street from the Sprint Center)?

I saw it briefly while driving by, so I wasn't able to get a picture of it yet.

Act like a d-bag, and you'll be tossed.  If you act like a d-bag in P&L, the Royal Imperial Guard StormTrooping SS Agents will probably deal with you more harshly.  Why?  Because it's their job.  Deal with it.

Thank you!  Neither I nor anybody I know has EVER been accosted by a bouncer...ANYWHERE, in any part of this or any other city, in towns, hamlets, burgs, etc.  I'd imagine because we don't act like dicks or get shitfaced and unruly.  Why people think that free reign ought to be given to anybody who wants to behave disruptively in the name of having a "good" time is beyond me. Drunken antics get old, fast.

Yes, I drove by when they were putting it up yesterday.  There's another one on the corner of Truman and Main.

^ Pretty cool. I assume they light up too?

The P&L sign above McFaddens light up at one time and i've noticed recently it hasn't been on in quite sometime.
Also noticed the cowboy sign isn't on anymore either. Was there maybe 3 weekends ago and it was half lit at that point so I assume it burnt out already.

I am just amazed that people like Maitre D who swore up and down that suburbanites would never go to the P&L are now going to the P&L so often that they have witnessed three different instances when people were escorted out.

I'm amazed that Maitre D - who previously stated that he wouldn't even go to P&L - has been 100x.

I'm glad he and other suburbanites have made the choice, though.  It's doing wonders for DT's revival.  Now, if we could just get the P&L condo towers built.

Oh once we get him a suitable spot, new construction, maybe with a big, east facing balcony and a view of the K, Maitre D is gonna move downtown.  We all know he wants to despite his trash talking.  :)

And I agree, with the above comments.  The onslaught of suburbanites has been nothing but a dream come true for me, and for downtown as well.  It has it's issues, but the general consensus from me is nothing but positive.  I was sitting on the south lawn at Liberty Memorial the other day with my dog and couldn't believe the number of folks there, for example.  I remember being one of only a few hardy souls that I thought ever used the place years back, and now here it is once again an iconic and popular KC institution.  I was so happy I thought I'd cry.

Yeah, you did.  Not gonna search through the pages of the thread to remind you.  But, before the place was built, you said P&L would be nothing more than a replica of Zona Rosa, Village West, Town Center.  And because it was not going to offer anything "special," suburbanites (yourself included) would just as likely stay out in their respective parts of the city.  From all acounts on your end, however, you are at P&L every night of the week fighting crime and standing up to Cordish oppression.

What changed?
