I saw that as well....wouldn't this be the other part of the Block building....that they would use as an auditorium?

As cdschofield pointed out in the Legends thread. Gimme Sum Fresh Asian Grill lists P+L District as a location coming in 2006. This is the first tenant for the P+L District that has been made public other than the grocer and AMC. I'm assuming Gimme Sum will locate in the piazza where it describes a "pan asian " restaurant. I was thinking we'd get Pei Wei in there, but Chang's must be quite slow in rolling that concept out. Regardless, nice to get a "hot concept" restaurant in the heart of downtown abeit a chain. Might make a few more people notice the many local Asian diners on their way to try out Gimmme Sum.

Not big news at all, but it's just fun to finally see "P+L coming 2006" on an actual web site of a tenant.

What an absolutely god-awful name for a restaurant.

Are these places upscale, quasi-fast food or what?  With a name like Gimme Sum, I would not be expecting much.

May end up loving that name.  Inexpensive, fresh, low-fat, served on china, no tipping Japanese.  Average per person ticket only $8.50.

Tipping Japanese? Gratuities, or too much sake?  :)

But then P&L would be doing quite well if drunken Japanese businessmen or tourists began to appear.

The article revealed that this block will have a fountain designed by WET with a wine bar in the midst. In the rendering, it shows a wine bar named Ino Vino. There is a real wine bar named Eno Vino that has KC connections and already is slated for Park Place in Leawood. Things that make you go hmm... :-k

Looking on the espnzone website, it would be very cool to be in the company of much larger cities that currently have these restaurants. I'm hoping that's what this development brings.....big city attractions that give a feeling of being in a major metro area.

I looked over the video and the only sports words I saw were attached to the condo tower....referencing the gym that is planned for that block.  They didn't even have a flyover of the area of where a "sports themed restaurant" was to go...that was at the 14th & Walnut block.

Not sure how much plans have changed since the originals were put out, but the first post of this thread has diagrams that make the block more of a courtyard.  You'd enter from the middle of the block.

14th & Walnut actually.... but the buildings themselves are in the 13th & Main block as defined at the start of this thread.

But why purposely isolate a building from the sidewalk?  It's starting to look like that's what's happening here.  I'm holding out hope for other means of ingress/egress from the sidewalk.

The original site plans show wide steps leading into the courtyard.  I think the final product will not look as isolated.
