I assume that due to corona that this is off the table? Or at least pushed back till the economy starts to recover?

Was looking forward to seeing this. It's a good size building and many of them (with better street level activation) would go a long way in filling lots in Downtown.

CityScene has a story out on this project this morning. Nothing really new in it besides a rendering. There's no timeline as the project is still on hold due to coronavirus. They could start next year but Fall 2020 was also talked about too.

Wouldn't be a bad apartment building

The S Dakota developer does have a pretty large portfolio of apt buildings so wouldn't be surprising if they consider a switch.

I hope it gets built in some form. It’s got nice massing and street presence. It replaces a surface lot.

Cushman reporting that Cambria has been put on hold for 1 year. Cushman also reporting that downtown occupancy and adr was up pre-covid.

^Have a link? Would be more surprising if not put on hold or even cancelled. Outside Interstate hotels and lower end hotels, the industry could take a while to recover. Especially downtown hotels that rely on events and conventions. And downtown occupancy wasn't particularly high before COVID due to all the rooms that have come online.

Wonder if developer will consider switch to residential given they have done many.

Did CW give a number for downtown hotel occupancy?

Was confirmed by the owner recently to be under contract. Something to watch for those of us with holdings in the area!
Any updates?

No movement that I've seen. Nobody additional has been on site and the owner has gone quiet. My guess is it fell through but I haven no real evidence of that.

What a boost for 9th street if both Cambria and Hyatt House come back to life. Now if someone would build on Savoy's west and northeast sides we could have a real lively street.

That would have been great. What was it

Cambria submitted a new plan set last week. They are very very very close to getting approval for their new building permit. I expect it to be approved this round (reviews due Feb. 5th).

In a related matter, a hotel planned at Ninth and Wyandotte near the Hyatt House project remains on hold. Sioux Falls-based Lloyd Cos. had planned to build the 149-room Hotel Cambria project next door to the historic Savoy 21C Museum Hotel.

An official with Lloyd said the firm still owns the land, but has not set a date for construction of what had been estimated as a $28 million project two years ago.
