It's almost never good news to lose an established institution or employer (remember the e-tax!). A move to Lenexa may also impact the significant presence of the Nazarene's publishing operation on Troost. Their activity and, most importantly, their high level of property maintenance has stabilized that area for a number of years. A set of 4 or 5 vacant and poorly-maintained block fronts would not be a good thing for Troost at this point.

Nazarene headquarters campus up for sale
The Church of the Nazarene is seeking a buyer for its international headquarters at the Paseo and 63rd Street, its home for 50 years.
The asking price for the 15-acre campus at 6401 the Paseo is $6.2 million. The scenic property includes five buildings encompassing 108,000 square feet, and almost 200,000 square feet of additional land is available for expansion. Zi mmer Real Estate Services LC is the listing agent.

I hate to see the church abandon this site. I spent my early childhood not too far from here (about 51st and Swope Parkway) and this place always seemed like another world driving past it....guess it must have been the globe on the roof.KCMax wrote: Nazarene headquarters campus up for sale

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation announced Monday that the space at 63rd Street and The Paseo would allow the charter school to instruct more than 1,000 middle and high school students by 2018. Classes won?t start at the new site until the 2013-2014 school year.
