They have had the roof top sign covered forever...who knows :-k
I keep coming across posts from people just noticing that for the first time, thinking it's something new, and thinking that the city was embarrassed to "just now" find out about their building and made them cover up the sign.

Did someone here awhile back say that these buildings are almost never used?

Like they make a big deal of a grand opening, but then there's nothing ever going on.

In 2008 the census said 25,000 people in the whole country identified with the org. Odds are you would never meet someone who's a member away from this building. If membership is split up evenly by state, there's only 500 people in the entire state. We could assume half would live in StL. So that's 250.

So if attendence matches other churches at 30%, there's only 75 active members in the entire region.

So if you suddenly realize this building is about a corporation owning property as a place to stick their money, you would be correct.

That's interesting -- they've operated at 10th and Walnut for over a century and spent $$$ to remodel that lobby maybe 25 years ago. It has an enormous cash vault, too.

(There is also a mothballed cash vault at the old Tower Lobby (Main between 9th and 10th) branch, or at least there used to be until that branch was closed 15 years ago). It's not an easy location from the street -- but I guess it's more secure back behind the escalators. Are they going to open up the safe deposit vault in the cellar again as well?

There ya go. Being the Midwest I'm literally convinced at this point that KCMO has as many dogs as there are people. Maybe parking lots can be transformed into dog parks, and every new residential building built have a luxury indoor dog recreation area. Maybe that is the missing link in all this madness.

Wow -- well that vault always smelled funny before, although just old-office musty, not dog-park sh*tty.

I think the Jenkins music facade is having issues as well. It has (or had, I haven’t looked for a while) similar bracing in the windows, as well as some netting.

Guess it’s time to staple a new facade to it, as is tradition

I’m worried about the two story building on Main next to Calverts. I’ve been watching it and the 2nd floor is starting to crumble into the first floor at the front. The metal beam broke and they tried to fix it with bolts. If nothing done, it will fall in within a year.

Fresh hot Pickleman’s shot. This does not look like a restaurant near opening.

EDIT: I don't know why my image is so small. I tried to make it larger but it just became pixelated.
