Please... our downtown still needs a lot of work. These towers will help. Will our downtown collapse without them?... no. Do we need them?... yes.

They were working into the night to tear Old Republic down last night.  Construction worker I talked said it would all be down in one month, taking a lil longer because of asbestos.  He didn't know anything about new building, timelines, etc.

So will this attach directly into the P&L building as a combined residential?

From the renderings it will be it's own building.

So what's up with the P&L building.  Last plans were to have office space tower built next door and expand the floor plates to the lower 1/3 of P&L building.  The upper 2/3 was to become residential.

You asked this a page back also, it is still the same, nothing has been said about that building for quite some time, doubt it will happen.

the building is a shell right now. a must see for any downtown junkie (sorry, my camera was on video mode when i tried to snap a pic). is this an old building originally? there are brick and cast concrete sections that look "designed". maybe this was hashed out before, but i don't recall...

Yeah, somebody (probably Fang) posted a hitory of the building somewhile back.  If I remember correctly it was a happening, post-war, nightclub, type place that received a very bland facadectomy somewhere along the line.

I walked into the P&L building today and found the office for the new condos.  It is up on the 27th floor and they are really just getting starting with the marketing.  The only person there was a secretary and she really didn't know anything yet.  She said that they are starting to hire and train a sales team.  They did have sketches on the wall and a 3D model that was pretty cool.  I like the way that all of the units face either North or East so that they all have a view.  Plus, every unit has a balcony which is what I am really missing living at WST.  For me, it is a little claustrophobic living in a downtown condo with no balcony.  You can see that the back side is all a parking garage.  It looks like the top of the garage will have trees and what looks like a little walking path and some outdoor space.  Probably would be a nice feature if you have a dog.  Here is a cell phone picture.

That's a massive garage for the number of units.  I would assume it is to supply parking for the actual P&L building as well?

I am pretty sure the city is paying for a big chunk of the garage and would get access to a portion of the spots.  It was mentioned in one of the early articles - part of what made new construction economically feasable was wrapping the structure around a city garage.

This should be the prototype for all new downtown garages from now on.  Especially the one that will replace Shopper's Parkade at 11th and Grand.

i popped into the sales office on my walk home from work yesterday. that scale model is great, but there wasn't much else to look at... i'd seen the floor plans before. i only got to speak to the accountant since it was shortly after 5. anyone know if they plan on creating model units?

on a side note, my first time in the actual P+L building! astonishing views!
