Until now....

Did you say anything to the bartender? Ask for a new glass?

Chriz, sorry to hear about this experience. I can't offer an exact explanation of what happened, but can assure you that it's not a chronic wine storage issue. Our wines are stored in our private dining room, which is on an entirely separate HVAC system, and is kept quite cool. During the massive heat wave that we've experienced this summer, keeping the entire place at a manageable temperature is a challenge, considering that we have an open kitchen, the doors are constantly opening, and the building is very old. However, I do feel that for the most part it has not become uncomfortably hot.

Regarding the glass of wine, this is a very simple fix and I wish that you would have brought it to my attention or to the attention of the staff. We would have gladly not charged you for it or replaced it. Plese let me know the next time you're headed in, and we'll make up for it without question. Hope to see you again soon! R.

Very classy response, but I wish you would have just told the guy off and to never come back. One less bar stool to wait to open up for me.

Another excellent evening at the Rieger with east coast visitors over the weekend. They were understandably impressed with the location, food, booze, atmosphere and notably the waitstaff. When you have 4 couples who know each other well, but haven't seen in a while, the table can become a bit unruly. Brains, kidney, sturgeon and an oddly shaped duck egg were among the memorable eats.

When we left we gave them a quick tour of the Kansas City lights and our timing couldn't have been better. The Kauffman was just letting out, Rockfest was just disengorging and the Plaza was just being the Plaza. Quite the vibrant impression.

Go now my little spores, I told them, spread your new-found knowledge amongst your friends and family, and send them back this way.

^^^Thanks so much! It always means a lot to us to have locals bring in their out of town guests. It makes us immeasurably proud to be a place KC shows off! Cheers!

Oh no! I hope that isn't true, and if it is I hope it isn't a bad sign...

Yep, their FB post broke the news last night. They also claimed to have some new "killer drink prices" and food items on the way.

Unfortunately, it's true...but it is definitely not a sign of any other impending bad news. Nothing but good news from here on out, I promise!

We are keeping the option open for bringing lunch back in the future. Most likely after the Streetcar completion and some of the building on this block is done. I'm hoping that will have a significant impact on the daily traffic around here.

Does anyone know how the 20th St. Streetscaping project is moving along? I was really hoping that would move forward.

^^^East Bottoms. We'll be located right next to Local Pig, across the tracks from Knuckleheads.
