I agree with beauty... Seems like a hard sell for what I saw

This is the key factor that they appear to be exploiting. There are a lot of folks looking for something to rent under $1,000 in the downtown market and almost nothing to be found.

It will be interesting to see how the buying public reacts. Some folks are spartan and eschew possessions and can live small. Others are looking for a simple place to land in the city. There are also those law firms, etc... who are looking for the alternative to hotels for guests, but not a penthouse at a Light Tower.
How much does a downtown hotel room cost per night? This would be a steal for a business that routinely puts up visitors instead of paying for a hotel room. At the same time older couples would be interested to have a place of their own when they come into downtown for a weekend or two each month to catch some shows or other entertainment.
If this place pulls this off instead of seeing new places with bigger spaces you might see more developments duplicating this.

That's basically what they're going for. The central area will be all short term rentals I believe.

Has anyone heard anything more about the wine bar or other retail?

i talk to the cellar rat guy who's doing the wine bar quite regularly. he said it won't have a full kitchen, but they will have food. i don't recall if he said exactly when it would open, but it was definitely this year.

The new pickwick lights look really nice, and it looks like they're going to do landscaping soon. I took a look through the gym area the other day, and it's coming along. The skylights will look great. I'm pretty skeptical they're going to hit any of their (rumored) opening dates, but it looks great. I have some pictures if anyone wants to see inside.

I believe UPS is going in the north retail slot, the wine bar in the south corner (I've heard they're going to have pretty decent hours, but we'll see), but does anyone know anything about the middle retail slot(s)? They were working on it quite a bit. I've heard rumors of a coffee place somewhere? All of their sales offices are going into the interior lobby I think.

Anyway, A+ to the Pickwick guys.

Also, more sidewalk repair at the federal reserve and they were power washing the garage, but I've given up being hopeful on it being more than a pigeon sanctuary. Who even uses that garage these days?

The garage is actually fully utilized. It's predominantly UMB Bank staff and construction folks.

The gym is coming along nicely as well, and the ups spot looks like it's currently being used by the contractors.

So I was wrong here for the record I think. I thought it was going into the corner retail slot on the North side, but there is a big sign up on one of of the interior slots saying ups is coming soon, and it looks like it's ready to turn over to them.

The glass is also going in for the wine bar and is looking very nice.

City Gym opens July 21st. UPS looks like it's very close. No idea on the wine bar or anything else.

Yep, and this says July 17th, so I might be a few days off on the opening. :)

Any update here on the gym opening? Anyone know if it's set to open on Monday, 7/17?

Also -- the UPS is now open? What about the restaurant?

To clarify this, I believe the gym opens July 17th, but they're doing a grand opening on the 22nd. I don't know if this is solely for signups, or if the gym will be open as well that week. I'll try to ask them and report back.

- Grand opening Friday, 260 units
- Refurbished 8 foot terminal clock has been installed, broken for about 60 years
- Harry Truman used the hotel as a retreat during the 1930s to write his journal known as the “Pickwick Papers.”
- The apartments are already about 70 percent leased, averaging about 12 new leases each week.
