Re: Chiefs
they have brandon rush to worry about now.
I am talking football terms...I think this was a good move for the chiefs, as long as they can actually draft well.

When did player salaries become tax free? And don't forget that now players have agents and they get their 10% of the players pay.kcmetro wrote: Probably because they bought unreasonable shit. Give me $1 mil tax free cash today and I'll make it last til the day I die...even if I live to 100.
I may be right. I may be wrong. But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

It's very odd - isn't it - that a man who earns $30 million would refuse to provide even one red nickel to his 7 children upon his death?kcmetro wrote: DT must be the only man in history who would rather spend money on other peoples' kids instead of his own.
To put it another way: he spent more during one nite at America's Pub, than he did on his own offspring.

I didn't say they were tax free. I was just stating that if I had $1 million total, that I could survive off that for the rest of my life.aknowledgeableperson wrote: When did player salaries become tax free? And don't forget that now players have agents and they get their 10% of the players pay.
Agents....yes indeed. But if a guy is getting paid $10 million, then assuming the agent gets 10% then he still has $9 mil before taxes. If they can't survive off that, they're just shitty at handling money. I know not all players get paid the same...some get much less. But most of the time when a pro athlete gets into financial trouble, it's because he thinks he has to have a mansion, 5 cars, a boat, nice bling, etc. It's just ignorance.

Re: Chiefs
Although football and baseball are considered sports they are still a subpart of the entertainment business. Guess MD would object to the amount of money Sir Sean Connery got for his brief appearance in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves or what Marlon Brando got for the first Superman movie. Of course I wasn't around at the time but it was very controversial at the time when Babe Ruth was paid more than the President of the USA.
MD also made a reference about sport unions. If they were "true" unions then all players would be paid the same by position with an allowance made for years of service. And although those "unions" may not love the drafts they do like them and live with them. Why? Because they don't want rookies to have free agency when it takes so many service years for actual players to have free agency.

It must be tough being one of DT's bastards, and knowing your father probably spent more on that double-vodka-tonic he bought your mother the nite of your creation.....than he left you when he died.kcmetro wrote: But most of the time when a pro athlete gets into financial trouble, it's because he thinks he has to have a mansion, 5 cars, a boat, nice bling, etc. It's just ignorance.

This gives a little perspective on DT's dual lifestyle...and just how common it is.

yet you praise a KU bball player in your avatar that does the same thing????
Can we talk current chiefs and football? Hopefully people learn lessons from DT's lack of after-life planning for his kids.

Pot - Meet Kettle. Perhaps you should talk about football instead of your broken record Rush comments. Over and over and over and over again. Just a thought.KCPowercat wrote: yet you praise a KU bball player in your avatar that does the same thing????

Does anyone really know the details of his situation? There's a big difference between 7 kids and 1 kid. If you can cite a source for me that outlines the details of Rush's situation, I'd appreciate that.KCPowercat wrote: yet you praise a KU bball player in your avatar that does the same thing????

Re: Chiefs
Yes. The details are, Powercat chastised me for discussing DT's bastard problem - saying it was totally irrelevant and in bad taste as well. He even went so far as to say the children are doing well (as per a KC Star article)kcmetro wrote: Does anyone really know the details of his situation? But then, he turns around and bashes Brandon Rush for having one.

I believe he is a co-owner with the Romo's (who own the building). No matter, let's hope that thing goes away....KansasCityCraka wrote: Jared Allen doesn't own any part of that resturant. The resturant pays him to use his name. So maybe they can change it to the D. Bowe Sports Arena & Grill.

Look for the Chiefs to add to their trade numbers for more draft choices. Could TG be next? LJ?
