What was the result? You would think this would be big news but I cannot find any mention of it in the Star today. I had heard that CFRG may take it to the courts if the city ignores their petition process (although I read somewhere they did not have enough signatures in the initial delivery - but still had time to gather more).

I watched both segments, from the PZE and the Council. Dan Coffey & others did get up and speak against it, accusing them of trying to bypass the will of the votes & petitioners. Basically PZE completely shot down those accusations. Councilman Shields really dug into the applicants for a more definitive series of dates. I suspected that was mainly to counter the arguments by Coffey & others. Basically she asked when we could see the final financing completed and a list of financials to show the public. As well as when they should expect to break ground. I think they said August or September for breaking ground and late July to August for the financing to be completed.

Could this affect the design? The Loews in chicago is pretty nicely designed as are Loews in general.

I read that as "Lowes" at first. I thought, damn, that devolved quickly!

No change in design. Logo on building changed and that's it.

This may be good for KC because Hyatt still wants to be back in downtown KC so they may do their own separate project from the convention center now.

The cladding is different. The Hyatt pics have more non glass...the loews rendering is all glass.

the new rendering looks far better IMHO. still looks like a hospital but now it's a glass hospital.

Loews is an incredible win for KC if this hotel is ever built. They are a step above Hyatt in many ways and having the Tisch family put a stake in the KC ground awesome.

This seems like a very positive development, especially them investing equity. I'm guessing the rest of the financing remains the same, including catering?

After staying at the Loews in Chicago, I'm pumped about this flag change. This is a win for KC :D

Not only is Loews a quality upgrade, Hyatt may still want to be in downtown KC, which may spawn another project even if smaller.
