The neon sign is up on the corner now, and was turned on this afternoon.

Is this the next place to open?  I'm ok with it, I've always had a good experience there and the bison burgers are delicious.

Never been to a Ted's although I eat a lot of bison that I get from an organic rancher in Paola.  Is it true that Ted's "finishes off" its bison in a feed lot?  Sounds strange to take something healthy and then make it less so.

I think the Bison at Ted's are supposed to be raised on his private ranch land but I don't know how they are finished.  The couple of times I was there I had pretty tasty meals.  It's nothing exotic - pretty standard steakhouse type fair.  But they do make a big emphasis on only using fresh ingredients - which puts it a step up on a lot of chains.  For relatively little difference in price, I thought it was a significant step up from say an outback or longhorn - and certainly a heck of a lot classier atmosphere/service.

Step One:  Buy a Live Bison.
Step Two: Grind Bison.
Step Three:  Enjoy Ground Bison.

you might include a "step 1.5" for "kill bison".  :)

Annie:  For ground bison wholesale:  Fracks Buffalo Ranch in Paola(913)557-4463.  To brown ground bison you usually must use a little bit of oil as it is so lean it will stick to even teflon.

KCBoom posted a list with one I hadn't seen before - Lutfi's Fried Fish.  Has anyone else seen this before?  Listed as 1407 Grand.

I've seen their mobile van around town before.  Apparently the business is on Prospect currently.  Pitch mentions it 2/3 way down in this article on 9/20/07 but no word if it is coming to P&L.

If this is true, I'm very excited.    I haven't been to the restaurant on Prospect yet but I hear it's very good.  I've tried several times to catch their van but every time I spot it it's gone by the time I get my wallet and get to that spot.

dave....chipolte is in the 13 and main block....all these threads are set up using the nw corner of the block as the indicator for the entire block to its sotheast.  so this thread deals with teds and the sprint store and famous daves (that we know of so far)

that is certainly interesting.  i dont get how gates and bryant's would balk at the P+L's high rent but Lutfi's can handle it?  unless Lutfi's is a more profitable venture than i thought.  if memory serves there are two Lutfi's locations, i think both on prospect like 40 blocks apart, and then they have the truck that sells wares to govt workers at lunch.

So what's Lutfi's product like?  English Chippie? Bayou Catfish? Caribbean?  Something else?
