Kansas City Power & Light District works to fill space of closed Bice Bistro restaurant
But Nick Benjamin, executive director of the eight-block downtown entertainment district, said several local, regional and national restaurants are interested in the 7,000-square-foot space at 14th and Main streets, which includes a large rooftop patio.

"We're trying quickly to come up with the best fit," he said. "Our intention and expectation is within the next two to three weeks we'll be ready to make an announcement."

They can find a tennant for Bice in two to three weeks yet there are still spaces up and down that street that have been vacant since opening?

Might it have something to do with roughly a million dollars in improvements and infrastructure that are in place?

I wonder if the Bice space will be split into two tenants.  I never went to the courtyard facing portion of Bice.  Was that a cafe-deli type place?

To be fair, Cupinis came before the P&L all together.  I don't think it's a spin off result of the P&L.  It is a great place though!

How about a new location for Bella Napoli?

How about a blast from the past - is the Italian Gardens sign still in storage somewhere?  :D

If it was done well, I would love this and I think it would be successful. Not likely though, as you already probably know...

A Cashew type place would be nice too.  Good lunch food and appetizers, but more of a happy hour & nightlife venue.

7000 sq ft. is a huge space, and could definitely be split up.  Bella Napoli would be awesome in the space facing the courtyard.  The rooftop has endless possibilities.

I also thought Bice closed months ago, but turns out they were just opening on random days and closing other random days.  They were running very inconsistent hours.  Sounds like a recipe for a doomed business.

coffee shops don't need kitchens, and that's what is TRULY needed in that spot.

Yes, and one with later hours.  MeMa's/Savvy/Teadrops don't quite fit the need for a true coffee bistro there.  I would frequent that often.

Agreed.  A Roasterie Cafe would be great.  I've given Savvy about 5 tries now, and I think I'm done.  The espresso either isn't good or they keep burning the shots.

This is an awesome location. I hope they bring in a premium restaurant that will become a destination like Fogo, Cap Grill, M+S or the like...

Bice has been in limbo for like a year. Cordish was probably soliciting restaurants long before the official closure.

Gourmet Pizza place would be nice too (Spin!).  Pizza Bar is disgusting.

the hours have changed twice since Savvy reopened. Move Savvy to the former Bice Cafe and turn Savvy into a Dunkin Donuts.

That'd be a huge coffee shop.  8)
How about half coffee shop/half Bella Napoli.
