As a Philadelphia resident, let me just say that the Live! Casino is lame. It is right by the interstate (see bottom right of photo), and more or less an island unto itself. Not saying it would be the exact same at Berkeley, but the Philly one is a weird vibe. But close to IKEA and multiple strip clubs! (Though you do have to cross under the interstate).

Feels like all casinos outside of LV are islands unto themselves. What's best case scenario, maybe the Harrah's in New Orleans?

Have you ever been inside or just judging it based off driving by it?

I used Philly as an example due to its size and this parcel size. Its location in Philly is basically a concrete island as it’s located amongst a massive multi stadium district. I can’t imagine anything being built here that doesn’t properly blend into the surrounding area nicely.

Once again, probably a bad idea on my part and this area will be residential and some basic retail, sportsbook, bar and restaurant type vibe.
A fair point, I have not been inside.

once the stadium is up and running, Jenkins said he hopes to "book everything we can," such as other athletic and entertainment events, to keep the venue busy on non-Current game days.

I really think this stadium will do very well in that regard

After riding a scooter around the city including across the Grand Viaduct, I still say that the pedestrian/bicycle bridge that will be built next to the viaduct will be one of the biggest improvements in downtown KC. Also really need to find a way to extend the trails from Berkley to something. It's not connected to anything.

Agreed.

Connecting to cliff drive will be a huge improvement

Connecting to Cliff Drive would be awesome. But, how would this be accomplished? The new connector from Columbus Park to Cliff Drive (under I-35), while relatively close distance-wise to a proposed Lydia Ave connection from Berkley, is across the RR tracks and fairly inaccessible. One would have to travel up the Industrial Trafficway and backtrack over thru Columbus Park...unless I'm missing something?

Port and the CP neighborhood are looking at finding a way to make Lydia and the Industrial Trafficway more pedestrian accessible. Also, there’s the grant from the federal government to determine how to handle the railroad tracks.

Once you’re in the CP neighborhood, the neighborhood and Port have a grant to figure out how to connect Lydia and Cliff Drive. Probably by going behind the forest Ave. developments

In addition to needing to find more funding, looks like a few pieces of the riverfront streetcar extension are being scaled back

Officials also value engineered the project before seeking the best and final offers, clarifying what Jarrold said were ambiguous areas in the project's scope while also modifying several design aspects. These included reducing new sidewalks, switching some remote control systems to manual, changing from a concrete slab to ballast to hold some track and shifting an overhead shelter at streetcar stops to a bid alternate

Just get the casino to buy in. It's kind of a silly extension until it goes there anyways.

Reducing sidewalks, how very KC of them.

Honestly I don’t hate the ballast change over concrete slab. The shelter and sidewalk changes however, are less than desirable.
