Yes! that is the only thing I hope comes from the building of the casino by the track. Forces upgrade of existing casino. preferably Isle of Capri and only b/c it is closest to DT. I don't even go to the casionos, but would be nice to have something on the riverfront close to DT>

I just don't see them ever doing anything. They seem totally content with where they are. They have a small, but loyal following (not sure why) and they can they have the best location to take advantage of visitors all with very little overhead compared to the other casinos. They do enough to make some money and anything else is probably not worth the risk of investing more into the property. They are the Royals of the local casino market.

But a nice casino there with a large hotel tower like a hard rock or lumiere (like St Louis has) would be nice. I would just assume Isle of Capri go away. It's ugly and tacky as hell, kinda ghetto and has almost no amnesties compared to a major casino resort, yet it's the closest to downtown and the first and often only casino people see when visiting KC. That thing belongs in Booneville, not downtown kc.

Was out at The Legends this week. Forumers would be happy to know that Bryant's (where I had lunch) was doing a whopping business while Famous Dave's had nary a car in its lot. I suspect the newness has worn off and people are returning to their favorite local bbq restaurants. Unfortunately, the lunch I had at Bryant's was just terrible. The sandwich was cold and the meat horribly fatty. That's the second crappy meal I've had at Bryant's out there. Expensive too - 14$ for a sandwich, fries and a soda.

I had the opposite experience recently at that Bryant's (at lunch on a weekday). It was dead when I was there. The food was fine, though. I wonder if Famous Dave's was equally dead at that time. Still, a frequent complaint I hear is the inconsistency of Bryant's meat.

I had a bad experience there too. Completely different tasting than the original AB.

it's an assumption at this point, but yeah (2 max). you'd be hard pressed to find a record of that anywhere. technically, it's zero since corporations aren't voters.

“Our biggest asset is our location,” Hagedorn said.
“We expect to attract 450 residents who will be able to walk to Sporting Kansas City games, the T-Bones, the Legends shopping center and Cerner. I think we have the best site and best product.”

Nobody will walk. Village West is designed for automobiles and a look at Google Maps shows that while one could walk, it's not a very walkable environment.

They'll bake in the Kansas prairie sun, too, in the summer. It's not exactly a tree-blessed area.

Legends Outlet Mall to be Auctioned Off on Courthouse Steps
The judge ordered the auction and on Friday, on the courthouse steps, bids previously submitted will be read and the Legends Outlets will have a new owner. Unified Government officials say retail sales at the Legends was up 12 percent last year and they are excited to see what a new owner might bring to help attract more businesses there, as well as more shoppers.
The main concern is that the Unified Government still owes millions of dollars in STAR Bonds, public money used to help pay for the construction, and the sales tax generated from the Legends is what they are using to pay off that loan.
