I like this story. It makes our city more colorful.

The Mixing Bowl Noshery is the new place. I went for lunch today - They do breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had some really decent chicken fingers and some relatively underwhelming mac/cheese. They seem to do everything fresh. Burgers, sandwiches and salads seem to be what's happening for lunch.KCPowercat wrote:Yeah, franks closed about 2 months ago.grovester wrote:The hot dog joint by the freeway?KCPowercat wrote:Saw new stirring and signage in the Frank's space?
It's such an odd spot. Feels like nothing could make it there for some reason.WSPanic wrote:The Mixing Bowl Noshery is the new place. I went for lunch today - They do breakfast, lunch and dinner. They're open 7 days - until 8p Mon-Sat and 5p on Sundays.

The proprietors appear to be "Peterman's" - any scoop from Repete??
I never understood him....his brunch was one of the busiest and best downtown and he shut it down. Weird guy. That space is prime for a good concept.earthling wrote:Nica's closed.

Am not into heavy food but thought it might work for those who do go for NOLA heavy, oh well. They had a bad start with the overly complicated menu. Breakfast was very heavy too with overcooked eggs. Like the long narrow space. Would like to see Colby/Bluestem or Jonathan Justice of Justice Drugstore move into this space and build up the already present James Beard circles in Xroads. Or a small eats/cocktail joint like Julep might do well here.

The menu was still a bit complicated in that you chose your own sauce and they still had that mashed potato thing on there. Still, I ate there a few weeks ago and we all loved our food. Sad to see it go. It is a terrific location though, can't imagine its empty for long.WSPanic wrote:beautyfromashes wrote:It lasted two years longer then I predicted. They had actually ditched that weird concept over the last year and just went to Cajun/New Orleans menu. It was pretty good. I like that style of cooking and there's not a lot of great cajun in town. It wasn't off the charts good, but I love that space and the food/drink menu was good enough.
interesting. my assumption is that it is new construction across the alley from 1617 main (current nara). that large parking lot is owned by nicholson group, who also owns:KCDowntown wrote:Anyone know anything about this permit that showed up today?
