K City Coffee in the River Market has folded. Their Facebook page says they sold to somebody else. Hopefully it's somebody that knows how to run a business.

Agreed. I wanted to like K City so bad, but it was consistently underwhelming both in management and product. I do hope someone can make a go of it in that spot. I also wonder if it isn't also an issue of too many square feet for what should be a small neighborhood joint.

That's a bummer, I never really loved the new location and I (and, it seems, everyone else) almost completely forgot about them after the fire.

If rent ever got to high in the crossroads, the old Mama's location might be a decent location for Hamburger Mary's

Hah, yeah, a 24-hour Hamburger Mary's next to Missie B's? Someone should really make this happen.

I've never considered K City to be too large. It doesn't have that much space. It's just that they've done nothing good with it at all. It needs to have like double the area of couch seating, dividing the room into smaller areas. Plus it wouldn't hurt for it to be a bit darker and more cozy. I honestly feel like it could EASILY be a success if you brought in somebody that had any idea at all how to run a business.

Missie B's @ America's Pub?

That should be a pretty good fit. I like the idea of having Missie B's in such a high profile spot. Sucks for 39th and SW Trfwy, though, to have both Missie B's and Mama's gone.

Hometown Buffet has closed at 7317 Quivira Road, Shawnee. The Minnesota-based parent company, Buffets Inc., said the lease for the space was about to expire and the restaurant was “underperforming.” The employees were offered severance based on their tenure.

Hamburger Mary's won't relocate while franchised in KC- their Bay Area headquarters signed a 25-yr lease on that spot in the Crossroads back in, what, 'o8? They've got to have some product there. Plus, Mary's is popular and the Crossroads is plenty gay.

Turned out to be a false rumor. Missie B's is staying put.

Or it might be a ploy for better negotiations. Is time for Westport center to have a big gay dance club again. If Missie B's doesn't move, someone should do it in old America's Pub spot. Missie B's may be better off moving than have the competition.
