1. My question is...Is Wy Co getting any revenue at all compared to the deals in NKC or Riverside?
Yes. This is quoted from the KCStar
"A separate agreement with Wyandotte County calls for the Unified Government to receive 4.2 percent of the gambling revenues for each of the first seven years and 6.5 percent annually after that."
"The Unified Government says it would receive $10 million (in annual revenue)."
As for the state of Kansas itself
"the tribes would give the state 12 percent of the first $100 million in gambling revenue and 22 percent after that."
"In all, the state estimates that the casino would deliver $40 million in annual revenue."
2. How many casinos are located in rural exurban or urban settings compared to rich, white suburbs?
This is quoted from the KC bizjournal.
"It also calls for the tribe to close its two existing reservation casinos seven years after the off-reservation casino opens."
So basically there are two casinos in rural areas right now, and then the one proposed for KCK meaning three, but the two in the rural areas would close. I know of a third casino in a rural area, but it might be just outside of the 100 mile range.
3. I don't have research to back this up, but I believe that casinos often due the most damage in a small radius around the facility. Every casino we have in KC is not far away from richer N'land 'burbs, but most are closest to urban, lower-income people.
The present location of the proposed Wyandotte County casino is far away from lower income people in inner city KCK. In fact it is located in the most well to do area in KCK. I have a map if you are interested.
As you can see the levels of income in this area are much higher than KCK in general, and the area still is 10+ miles away from the lower income inner city which means that Argosy will still be closer to the lower income people than this place.
Have I forgot to mention that any negative impact that anyone believes that casino gambling has on a community would have already happened due to the 4 casinos in Missouri???? Or maybe people are choosing to forget this fact.
