Part of this block will hold a 300 seat theatre for the Mo. Rep. to preform in as stated in the 10/6 Star. I assume the Northeastern portion of the block.

That's cool that they decided to upgrade what was going to be a lecture hall into a full-fledged live theater.
Excavation for the building proper must be nearly done because the article also said that actual construction begins Tuesday.

having the Rep's new space downtown is a really great idea. Kudos to the folks who pulled this off.
Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.

Re: P&L District: 13th & Main Site Proposal
The Director of Communications for the KC Rep was on Week in Review and she said the main reason that Rep is opening a space downtown is to market themselves to a younger audience. She said that downtown housing is booming and noted the success of the Crossroads Arts District.tat2kc wrote:having the Rep's new space downtown is a really great idea. The host (Haynes) noted that over half the audience for the Missouri Rep/KC Rep is from Kansas, but the communications director said the KC Rep is dedicated to expanding arts in the urban core.

Another possibility for the retro diner would be Ed Debevic's. With the original being in Chicago, they apparently have opened restaurants in at least California and Phoenix. I went to the Chi-town place about 15 years ago. We stood in line for what must have been an hour. It was a fun place then, and it's still going strong. I think something like that would be ideal for P&L. I'm not sure of the required square footage, though.
A fool and your money are soon united.

I see cranes and stuff inside the big hole, and my mom after she parked her car in the nearby garage said something about walls going up down there but I couldn't tell what she was talking about. Have they started erecting the actual garage?

Yes, precast section of the garage are being lifted down into the hole from the northern Walnut entrance. It is hard to find an angle to see this work being done b/c they keep moving the fences back around the site, but last weekend I did find one where I could see garage walls going into place.

I can't see squat of that from my angle, all I can see is one end of a big empty hole.KCDowntown wrote: Yes, precast section of the garage are being lifted down into the hole from the northern Walnut entrance. It is hard to find an angle to see this work being done b/c they keep moving the fences back around the site, but last weekend I did find one where I could see garage walls going into place.

Precast garage sections explain how they'll be able to finish by Fall 2006... those things go up fast! Â

If those are those large black rectangular slats, then I guess I saw those down there when I visited the site a few weeks ago. I have pictures but have been too lazy to put them up.

Is it just another optical illusion in the webcam, or have they started construction on the building immediately east of/attached to H&R Block?

Look at the surface of the undergound garage, following a line about 10 pixels parrallel to the souther edge of the Town Pavillion Parking Garage. There is a new row of columns here that seems to be on top of the new garage, as in, above surface level.

Guess I was wrong. So what is this, part of Block or part of the Cordish development?Âscooterj wrote: Is it just another optical illusion in the webcam, or have they started construction on the building immediately east of/attached to H&R Block?
