I wish people would stop using the word "iconic" for everything. I doubt anything they build in KCK is ever going to merit the use of that word.
The developer now will drop the athletic field and the fitness center components. Lanier plans to increase the total number of apartments from a planned range of 75-85 units to 85-100 units. The apartments will include studio, one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 550 to 1,050 square feet.
Five apartments will be designated as workforce housing, earmarked for tenants earning less than 70% of the Kansas City, Kansas, median household income. All remaining units will be market rate.
Lanier now plans to build a 7,500-square-foot meeting space and construct 7,000 square feet of retail space on the lower level of the apartment building.

Burroughs, a state representative for 26 years and now a county commissioner for seven years, says he’s considering running for mayor next year.
Worth noting Burroughs, as well as members of Mayor Garner's staff are still attempting to run interference on LITHC projects in KCK. Mostly because they do not understand it in any way possible.
Brotherhood building declared unfit for habitation. This was the largest office building to go up in either Kansas Cities in the immediate postwar years and had an elite social and business membership club on the top floor(Terrace Club). It was largest office building in KCK until the Cerner buildings at village west.

The building itself is on the National and State Historic Register as well as in the New Downtown KCK Historic District, also on the State Register. It easily has a chance to be saved, just need someone willing to do it.
Also worth noting, the 7th Street Methodist Church at 7th & State as well as the rest of the block has been brought down. This is in anticipation of KCKCC and a new Downtown Campus.
Also, Willie Lanier's Reardon Center Redevelopment Agreement signed for another 9 months......hoping it can get off the ground here. City Hall Lofts at 6th & Ann is close to being issued permits to go vertical soon too.
