A very forlorn area of DT for hospitality. Anything at all is blocks away through deserted empty landscape.

I believe this building was for sale recently and the listing mentioned it having some Airbnbs in it. This might be a way for those Airbnbs to operate legally while also getting a retail tenant in there.

SUP passed through CPC today, encompasses both buildings.

18 rooms, "themed around music." Spa is "uniquely built for sensory experiences."

Music-themed boutique hotel will open in Downtown KC
...
“We really want this to be a fun experience for people, not just a place to stay,” said Mark Denton, marketing director and a partner in Kansas City-based VBRG, which is developing the hotel at 301 Admiral Blvd. VBRG aims for an October 2025 opening.

The Riff Hotel will feature 22 music-themed rooms, a basement speakeasy, an event space that can accommodate 300, and a listening lounge that will feature DJs and live bands. The lobby library will have an extensive record collection for guests to explore. As part of a planned second phase 2, VBRG will add a rooftop bar.

Each guest room features 13-foot-tall ceilings and a different musical theme with related décor. A room could draw inspiration from a particular song, genre or band. VBRG is mulling a Beatles room and already plans to do a Charlie Parker room in honor of the famous jazz musician with Kansas City ties.
...
The roughly 18,000-square-foot building is actually three conjoined buildings, with one dating to the 1800s, he said. The buildings' floors are staggered from one another, creating unique design challenges for Icon Architecture + Fabrication, which had to figure out how to add an elevator and make the building compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Hope it can inject some life into that corner of downtown. There’s a surprising amount of building stock left there, but it’s pretty desolate
