God, I love when St. Louis people tell us, their "little brother city", how things work and how we have no way to get what they have.

Losing 600,000 residents from your city limits, seeing a lot of people flee to other cities, losing the TWA hub when it collapsed, having a constant crime issue, and being surrounded by cities doing fairly well is cause to express your insecurities on everyone else and blame everyone else for your own failures. I left St. Louis for a reason, and it wasn't just going to where the opportunity was. But that's a story for another thread.TheUrbanRoo wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 12:59 pmTheir entire schtick is insecurity and constantly trying to prove themselves. Back on subject about MCI getting an international flight, I have faith that Justin Meyer, and others, are looking at the data and working with their preferred airline partners on avenues to getting us flights to Europe. It'll take a while, but that's all part of the due-diligence process. I imagine they're looking at passengers originating from MCI and flying overseas through connections and on what airline people are most frequently doing it on. Depending on that, they'll have a clearer picture of which way to go. We've heard London and Paris as the two "hot-spots" for passengers originating at MCI. If that's the case, I imagine that's where the Airport Commission is focusing on.
My bets are on Delta launching TATL service from MCI. Some can disagree with my assessment on this, but I doubt we'll see a European airline parked at MCI anytime soon. Let Delta grow naturally here and growth requires going international. Just like my hope of JetBlue expanding operations here (even though chances of that are slim), we make a great Mid-Continent hub for any airline. We're cheaper than Chicago and more centrally located for a good amount of people.

Ok ... that's scary you believe sources like that. Isn't that like saying the election was stolen? Have fun with your conspiracy theories.langosta wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 2:21 pmThe main AvGeek and STL aviation new sources is posting about how staying 3x is worrisome, not sustainable etc. I trust what he saysbeautyfromashes wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 12:43 pm God, I love when St. Louis people tell us, their "little brother city", how things work and how we have no way to get what they have.
By the way I have read online also how Kansas City's new airport sucks and is small... but we all know that is just some poster in an aviation blog that posts under the alias if "AvGeek" so I plan to believe them and spread the word. Roll eyes.
As for your blogger "source" STL Aviation. Here is *really* what they are posting:

That is so wrong on so many levels it shows your ignorance and ridiculousness.Losing 600,000 residents from your city limits, seeing a lot of people flee to other cities, losing the TWA hub when it collapsed, having a constant crime issue, and being surrounded by cities doing fairly well is cause to express your insecurities on everyone else and blame everyone else for your own failures. I left St. Louis for a reason, and it wasn't just going to where the opportunity was. But that's a story for another thread.
I hate to even look crap up... but here since you don't do your math:
1) STL City loss of population was in just the city of STL of only 61 Square miles. Today the population of those 61 square miles density is at 4,886.23/sq mi. That is still very dense (in comparison to us and most USA cities). The infrastructure of the city of STL is made up of mainly 2, 4 and 6 brick family flats that once house that many families (with many children). Today families don't live like that anymore nor do we have large families anymore. That taken into consideration the CITY of STL still has a larger population per square miles than most within a small area of 61 square miles. If STL County and STL City merge (which looks inevitable at some point) the city population would be well into 2 million alone just with STL County and city population. Not the rest of their metro. We could only wish for that type of density in KC city or Missouri metro (much less most of Kansas metro too).
2. TWA failed because of Carl Icahn giving it away with corporate greed and discounts. The airline was folded into AA and 911 hit and the airline industry completely changed course. Talk to Pittsburg, Cleveland, Cincy, Memphis and even Minneapolis. In addition, that was over 20 years ago and STL airport rebound has been substantial. My son is 25 years old and when I mention TWA, USair, or Northwest, he has never even heard of those airlines or only seen in "the movies".
3. CRIME. Bahahahahha. You and everyone else know the screw skewed issue of crime per caps for the 61 square miles of STL. In addition STL crime is way down this year and has been coming down since 2021. Whereas most USA cities including us in KC it is skyrocketing. Take STL homicides and slide them over our 314 square miles of City... and STL is one of the lowest crime stats. Duh
Your personal feelings or why you left STL have absolutely no weight on anything. There are plenty of KC people in STL I know that hate KC and call us out on everything too. Duh.
In addition STL has many Fortune 500 companies with large employment (we have ome.om the Kansas side) and a corporate presence overall that I wish we had in KC.
The stagnant population growth in STL Metro is real. However, the population of STL Metro is still a large chunk that will take decades for us to overcome. In addition, I doubt that STL Metro will continue to decline ot stay stagnant with the revitalization and corporate growth they have been getting in the past fee years. Hence the investment(s) corporate players are doing... like Lufthansa. We have nothing like that to date.
And to think you hijacked a good thread with your ignorance and inferiority complex... go play somewhere else. This isn't the place for a pissing match. If anyone else wants to play along with you... take it somewhere else and post your opinions and conspiracy theories there. promise I will not respond again to your ignorance or ridiculousness hijacking of this blog. This blog needs to have some credibility to be a standard source for all and posts like that make it the opposite. Please stop.

One out of 8 sources. Try again.
Please apply your source that the institutes article is not correct. Blog posts are only credible with actual sources. At college level or a professional educated level, you must properly cite your sources in all essays, research papers, and other academic texts. Add a professional, documented and proper citation whenever quoting, paraphrasing, or ummarize information or ideas from a source.
Without a source, it is simply hearsa, opinion, thoughts, or judgments. Which are all good and dandy when hypothesizlzing outcomes but not using real world statistics, aurhorized sources or quotes of professionals in the know or from the enterprise itself.

I truly think a flight to KC from Mexico from a AeroMexico would be great. We have a huge Hispanic population travel connections to North America's largest city.

The ShowMe institute is widely known to be an opinion “think-tank” that is hardly based in fact. They use very heavy handed and often misrepresented data to paint a VERY specific picture. See example: KC Streetcar, new terminal at MCI, Abatement & incentive discussion. I’m not saying that all your other sources are incorrect, cause I truly don’t care to scroll through them at this time, but starting off with a very know biased and nonfactual source is hardly giving credence to your stance.

MCI-JFK upgauged to A320 on JetBlue schedule to end of schedule in summer 2024. Boston still set A220.
