One obvious advantage of the NKC location... corn starch dogs!

I liked that he mentioned going vertical several times with the EV site

Watched the replay. It's pretty clear there is only one choice and they really don't have many concerns with not getting the extension passed (partly because they are going to be going with the Chiefs).

Lastly it's clear they are seeing the downtown infrastructure already in place as a way to maximize any investment they put into this. It won't have to be spent on infrastructure like garages.

In regards to a question about the Royals/Chiefs being together on a new vote and what the Chiefs would want.

"I want the Chiefs to speak for themselves but we are in close contact/coordination"

They get the Royals out of the Truman Sports Complex and can then do whatever they want there.

Cratedigger wrote: Thu Jun 29, 2023 10:16 am April vote for Sales Tax extension. Sherman mentioned the Chiefs being a part of the vote

$300-$350M from Jackson County 3/8th sales tax
Undisclosed amount from state of MO but the Royals have had discussions with Gov. Parson
$1B from private financing

Mentioned that the EV district would be more vertical. NKC site more horizontal and focused on extending the idea of downtown north of the river. Regardless of site, Royals will play at the K for 4-5 more seasons and a new stadium wouldn't be ready until 2027/2028
Sherman also mentioned that he thinks Chiefs will reveal their plans by end of the summer too, about same time as Royals announce their final site selection.

KC will get a deal on the private-public ratio. Chiefs will use their still-potential dynasty status to revamp that rundown parking lot into an exclusive Chiefs Kingdom Ent. District. Arrowhead will see renovations but Clark Hunt will keep the OG stadium to commemorate Lamar and Norma's (RIP) luv for the loudest stadium on earth. It's gonna be beautiful!

Really glad to hear discussion about the State of Missouri contributing money for the stadiums. It's about time they did more to fund sporting teams instead of relying so much on the county to pay for infrastructure. The only way residents vote against this is politics that only allow for social spending instead of return investment and stubborn sentimentality. Eastern Jack gets the crown jewel of the sports teams for the top athlete in the nation. Losing the Royals downtown doesn't offset that gain. Downtown finally gets an anchor and the spotlight of the city. It should bring continued synergy to attract businesses and increased growth in residents and vibrancy. The plans released before the vote need to rock though. Bland and unimaginative loses the vote.

They would win points if they inked a deal with Target and showcased that in the renderings for the ballpark district.

I know, I know... They're too methodical to call out specific businesses at this point when the park won't open until the end of the decade

Probably doesn't have to be so overt. A "Hit it here!" bullseye in the outfield in red and white probably gets the job done.

Yeah one can see pretty clearly what Clark is going to want/do. I could even see the final arrival of a rolling roof that doubles as a canopy for said entertainment district.

The Chiefs should ask for something monumental. Missouri and KC are no position to say no. If there were ever a time in the next 200 years where the Chiefs could ask for anything it's probably this exact year.

Why are people so concerned about bringing a Super Bowl to KC? Last years Super Bowl 810 was there and they said it was basically empty all week. Even if we got it, it would be once every 10-15 years.

The rolling roof is a boondoggle that will scare people away from the deal but I could honestly see them try one last time. I'm not interested, can't afford SB tix & so many other things should take precedent over additional financing for a silly roof for a once in a blue moon event.
