E-Sports Stadium
E-Sports is a growing industry and some other cities are getting proposals for stadiums. It is only a matter of time before such a facility comes to KC. Need to make sure it goes downtown just as we want other stadiums and attractions to go there.
KC recently hosted Halo Majors tournament, 1 of 3 US cities selected by Microsoft to host this season.

Populous to design e-sports stadiums for Glytch. 8 years to build 32 stadiums across US. 1500-3000 capacity with a team based in each facility.

Shows the e-sports arena next to a standard sports Arena. Assume Sprint is not much smaller/larger than the flyers? Looks like you could fit E-Sports next to Sprint.

Re: E-Sports Stadium
What a cringe spot to put all those stadiums.
Re: E-Sports Stadium
It’s awesome. All your local teams in one area. Not for every city but works great for them.

I wonder if the Star Pavilion could be reworked for this?

Is the CBE space big enough If they decide to move to a different location? I know absolutely nothing about esports.

Re: E-Sports Stadium
Another possibility: since the American Royal has left the West Bottoms, could Hale Arena be used for this?

Re: E-Sports Stadium
Esports was the initial conversion pitch for Kemper Arena that got the ball rolling to save it back in 2014.
Re: E-Sports Stadium
I thought an eSports arena was part of a plan out in JOCO along with youth sports, soccer fields, etc. For some reason I recall them wanting to build an arena. Maybe it was not eSports specific but it would cater to those events.
Videos game are massively popular so perhaps 2 event spaces would be fine in the same metro.

Re: E-Sports Stadium
Would an e-stadium work with a new Sports betting Casino downtown?
Re: E-Sports Stadium
I don't think anyone will build a dedicated sports betting casino but No Other Pub would be the first to feature sports betting in downtown KC once it becomes legal.Karambit25 wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 1:14 pm Would an e-stadium work with a new Sports betting Casino downtown?
