Re: 2023 KCMO Election
It isn't the Ethic's Commission's job to make sure someone can run for office but that they're following all ethics laws when they do.
I figured out the first three are listed for the council, the last for mayor.
There's a fourth for the council listed on the Feb 2023 special election, Joseph Thomas
That's strange enough no one should read anything into the list.

If elected mayor, she would turn 77 during her first year in office. Oldest mayor ever?

Likely, unless Charlie Wheeler runs again and wins.

Whatever happens in the election, can we just get a council and mayor who’s supportive of developing the city?

Re: 2023 KCMO Election
Loar and Hall could be good places to pick up pro-business and maybe even transit/development seats. Important that Fowler gets replaced by someone equally as pro-development, transit, and business. Arent McManus and Barnes also up?alejandro46 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 4:08 pmKCRAGSUPERPAC ("Build Back Denser") supports a wide variety of people and causes

Re: 2023 KCMO Election
We need council members from the Northland who will support development south of the river, but also increased density in new subdivisions north of the river. Vacant land is going to be developed. There needs to be increased density along transit corridors. There needs to be increased population density by building on smaller residential lots, allowing ADUs to be constructed on existing housing parcels, as well as over garages in new subdivisions. We can't develop these vast square miles of city with even less density that exists south of the river. It's a financial house of cards. We need council members who understand this math, and will zone accordingly.
I don't even think most residents want these huge yards. They turn their residents into slaves on the weekends often mowing lawns that go unused. My brother bought a new house (first owner) near Platte City and sold within two years. He said his kids were gone, and he didn't want to spend his free time mowing a big lawn. The lawn was four times the size of the lawn of his first house where he mostly raised his three kids.
We need to stop building streets with sidewalks along them, but no houses or businesses fronting them. There are several places in the Northland were these sidewalks exist, but front the back fences of subdivision houses. What is the point? These sidewalks go several blocks before even coming to a subdivision entrance. Who is walking on them? They will have to be maintained. This, when there are plenty of subdivisions there with no sidewalks at all within them. It's madness.
